Hi all - Happy Monday! Weekend was way to short....

BoyWonderMom - wow - that's awesome that he surprised you early!!!  Enjoy your visit with him - of course you know the drill, get lots & lots of hugs ;-)

Co-Twin - counting down the days until you get to hug TwinA!  How much time will you get with him?

It's seems like GC doesn't do the proto grad ceremony all the time.  I remember a couple of years ago they weren't having them, then recently they were having a ceremony I think on the Yorktown at Patriot's Point.  Sorry to hear they aren't having them again....I know that BS holds them (we went in January) but I agree with your comment Dinky - it's definitely more for the parents/families!  My son didn't really care all that much and we turned around and left NY the next day and all came back to CA together.

Anyone's sailor in 1305 in GC?  I've heard that the graduation was switched from 5/22 to 5/29.  Anyone else?

Why no ceremony? I was kind of wondering because my son said the movers are coming Friday to pack up his stuff and car. He flies here Saturday:) !!!

CoTSM-our guys aren't getting a ceremony, I feel bad for them! Mine doesn't seem too bothered though. I think it means more to us than them! Still having a great time here. We're having brunch with a bunch of Sailors we got to meet at Power School graduation tomorrow. Looking forward to catching up with them all and finding out where they're going next.

Congrats to all the recent grads & those passing oral boards!

Just thought I would chime in the prototype location selections.  My son requested BS and got GC.  Luckily for him, he found a Sailor who got GC and wanted BS.  They were able to put in a change request and got it.  His current rommate also was able to  make the same change.  So even if your Sailor doesn't get their choice, there is hope!

After power school my snows told he would be going to BS but at the last minute it was changed and he stayed in GC, He was happy as that was where most of his buddies were staying, He lost two friends to BS. He has movers coming to pack up his few possessions and his car to be shipped to Hawaii on Friday. He is headed my way next weekend after graduation!! WhoYa. So excited to see my second twin, however technically he is twin A, born 1 screamin' minute before his brother LOL.

Boywondersmom. I know I will be bummed if San Diego doesn;t hold true. Just best of both worlds they will be sorta bored in Va since to my understanding Lincoln is still in overhaul procedure and won't be finished until Nov. 2016. Since its on his orders I'd say legit, but until I actually see orders I'll be hesitant especially since your sailor doesn't know anything about it. Crossing fingers. We live 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic to Norfolk so planning on seeing son as often as I can. looks like it will be a Va. Beach kinda summer.

In my opinion it is usually luck of the draw when it comes to where they go to prototype. those that get there request I feel just got lucky. #1 rule of the Navy -  needs of the Navy come first, My son did get his choice but knew many who didn't. You get a 50/50 shot. My sons roomate had to leave his fiance that was in college in charleston behind.
