Good luck to your son Regi my son was in that same spot exactly two years ago, now he is the reactor operator on attack sub currently underway.

Hello all, finally got a chance to bounce back in here and try to catch up. Some days I can't decide if I feel more like the White Rabbit, or one of those balls in a pinball machine!

NDM, so good to hear from you, and that you are in remission.  Love the photo!  I am sure you will make the most of your sailor being home.  How nice he gets 30+ days!  You strike me as a class act--gracious, positive and kind, sprinkled with a sense of humor, even in the midst of your health issues and cancer treatments.  Many prayers for you and your family.

CO-Twin, how was your test today?  I always look forward to reading your posts.  Some people are just natural storytellers!  P.S.  You really didn't need to share the cold and snow with the rest of us!  :-)

B'sNukemom, happy belated birthday!  Funny pictures!  Better break out your Under Armour for the weekend.  Still going with a December grad date?

Thank you to everyone who wished my daughter a Happy Birthday.  She had a pretty good day.  Much better than last year's, which was spent at RTC.

Our high school celebrated Veteran's Day with a breakfast and a small program to honor our area veterans on Tuesday.  One of the photos I took is posted above.  We had over 70 veterans and their families in attendance.  Each one had the opportunity to state his or her name, branch of service, and years served.  It was, as always, a humbling and moving experience.  Thank you to all the veterans!

NDM, My Doc sent me to a neurologist who told me for my numb hands to take a B complex 100% potency 2 in the AM 2 at night and by golly several months later it was better. I added Mega Red krill oil and it also helps. I now just take one of each every morning.

YOU all are the greatest bunch ever.  When my MM was in the pipeline, and I was stressed and worried, you always came through and Thank YOU for all the prayers and well wishes I received, please keep on cause it’s working…I’m entering my 3rd month of remission ( Yes, my finger tips are still numb from the chemo too ) but it helps to hear someone out there beat this disease.

OK Sonshine time.  My Son comes home in 5 days from Guam.  No Passport needed cause he is flying through Hawaii.  $1500 round trip air fare with only 1 week advance notice.  He talked to command and showed them an email I sent him when I was hospitalized and fearing the worst, kind of a personal good-by to my Son letter.  He got 30 days leave, and he can get more by talking to and helping the recruiters here in town.  We won’t have him for Christmas, but while I’m still strong enough to let him loose in Las Vegas, and be active, I will take it ( in July the Drs. gave me 6 months).  He grew up here, and is a devout rule follower so he never drank, did drugs, or gambled ( which I thought would make him a perfect Nuke ) instead he spent 6 nights a week for 4 years and earned a 2nd degree Brown belt in Karate, but now that he is 21, drinking and gambling are definitely on the agenda.  I will try to keep up at Benihana’s which he requested twice or more while on leave. My niece’s first words were “More Saki” that she learned from me at Benihana. Since the hospital, I haven’t been able to drink much.

Quickly a comment on the arrival of the Geo. Washington in Guam.  I remember him mentioning that it always screws up the NEX for a month when a ship comes in.  Everyone knows that you stock up a week before an arrival, cause those bubbleheads empty out the NEX of everything and it takes 2-3 weeks before they are restocked.

God Bless you all, and thanks again for all the Love, It helps me as much now as it did when my Son was in Boot Camp.  Please accept this Thank You from the entire Mitchell Family. The photo is from our good-by dinner before he shipped to Guam.

B'sNukeMoM.  Yes, he is in Goose Creek and he has certainly been lucky.  He PIRed in February of 13 and didn't wait probably more than 3 weeks on any of his holds. As long as oral boards go well, he'll graduate prototype.  He already passed comps and has his assignment on a sub out of Bremerton WA to begin sometime in January.  He's soooo excited and so is mom.  He's within driving distance now instead of being on the opposite coast.

It was -7* for my drive but roads were more clear not snowcapped and icy. Warmed up to a whopping 9* by 1.

Have a BIG exam of ServeSafe tomorrow! nervous. My brain does not work as well as it did at 20 something.

TOO cold for November, that is more like January weather.
