So relieved that my son passed his PS comp exam. What a long day! So proud of him and can't wait to see him at graduation. Best of all he is grad and go to NY so he is coming back with us. We live 11 miles from the training unit at Ballson Spa.

While on our cruise we made a stop in Key West, FLA. The ship docked at Naval Air Station Key West. We were not allowed to take pictures on base because the Navy Seals were training. When we got off the ship, we didn't see anyone however when we got back, two groups were coming out of the water. The trainees looked rough and were carrying a large boat over head while a man with in a yellow shirt was walking beside them. One group was getting screamed at and had to pick the boat up and down multiple times. Ugh! The other group was allowed to put the boat down and sit on the edge of it. We couldn't hear what was being said but group one was being yelled at, for sure. We saw other guys walking around with handkerchiefs covering their face. We didn't need to ask why. It was interesting though. Security was very tight getting back on base. They inspected everything. If they found a cell phone we were made to turn it off and again were told not to take pictures. Then they warned us that if they caught anyone of us taking pictures, they would confiscate everything. Note, we took a trolly/train off and on base.

My son thought that was awesome.

NJ Navy Mom- I'm so glad that you asked. With all that's been going on, here, I also forgot to thank her.

B'sNukeMom- My son is also in BS waiting to class up. However, he just got there so he wont be with your son. They were briefed on Monday and were told that MARF is "down". Chances are, if they can't "squeeze" him in to your sons class, and MARF does not go online Monday, he wont class up until August. Maybe even later. It's okay though. He is enjoying the new town and his room mates.

Funny story. Since my son got to BS he and his buddies have been finding good deals on amenities. He sent me a text that read, "we just bought the most ghetto couch for $40". There was a picture of the pitiful piece below it. OMG It is awful. Looks like something straight out of a Threes Company episode. Maybe even Mary Tyler More. Large blue and green flowers is the best description. Lol I informed him that they can always by a cover for it. A few days later we were talking and I asked about it. He started laughing and said that they decided not to buy a cover for it. He said that it's so ugly that it would be like covering up the ugly duckling. They would rather it be the center piece of the apartment. Again, he was laughing but was serious. I'm gonna have to try and figure out how to post  a picture here.

ctz3- Welcome to the group. There is a lot of information at the top under discussions. There is a graduation after A school, Power school and Prototype. Some families go to all three events but, I believe, most only go to Power School graduation. It's a lovely ceremony that's held outside.

I know! I can't stand the wait!

Christy, I know.  I have been anxious all day.  My son is an ET and took that test today.  I fortunately spoke with him about 12:15 pm.  He felt pretty good about it.  He told me they have to muster at 6:00 pm for the results.  I have been so anxious all day.  Leaving tomorrow for graduation.  Can't wait to see him.

Spoke with my son last night (he's in BS waiting for proto to start) and he got another new start date!  Now it looks like it will be this Monday, 4/14.  His class changed too - from MARF to S8G.  He says he'll believe it when he sees it but it looks more certain this time since they passed out their text books. Anyone else with a sailor is class 1401 S8G?

Good Luck to all the sailors taking Power School Comps today! (and don't forget to breathe moms!)

Oh bless you B'sNukeMoM!!  LOL - I can't believe I did that.  She's probably - hopefully not - saying "what an ungrateful woman!"  I'll correct that right now.  Thanks again
