OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

We saved her ashes and over Easter weekend, We took part of them to G.C. and scattered them with my son, so that he could feel part of it.

Everyone leaves their shoes at the door to refresh after running, those were new running shoes. It's a shame that some people feel the need to take somebody else's property. Please tell your sons and daughters to always be aware of their things.

Comment by William in Nashua on July 21, 2013 at 9:58pm: It does seem like a long delay J's mom. When did your son graduate Nuclear Power School? It does seem like Goose Creek site has a lot of delays nowadays compared to Ballston Spa.

Comment by Janet (Grad Hold in BS) on July 21, 2013 at 9:17pm: Cathy-- we stayed at a Staybridge near major intersection of I26 and Ashley Phosphate road. There are many hotels in this area ... Just north of airport and 8 miles ( and about 15 minutes) from base. Getting to base is quick and easy. Staying a little closer to base would be more convenient for shuttling sailor back and forth, but this is not a bad location. The Staybridge has been clean, quiet, and comfortable. The free breakfast is decent and the free wifi works. Only con is that they do not have a shuttle to the airport. We drove son's truck here and are flying home. We need a taxi to get to airport since there is no shuttle. Not a big deal, but an inconvenience.

Comment by William in Nashua on July 21, 2013 at 8:50pm: Cathy, pretty close to the base is the Wingate by Windham next to Charleston Southern University, it is on University Ave. I stayed there it was very nice with free breakfast for everybody. They have military discount too.

Comment by Cathy on July 21, 2013 at 8:47pm: Janet...sorry for your loss. I was just coming on here to ask if anyone had any suggestions of where to stay in Goose Creek or Charleston if we are not able to get in the Foster Creek Villas. Wanting to stay close to base if possible. Thank you.
