While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by suebal MM3 USS California SSN781 on July 8, 2013 at 12:10pm: SueSue, all I can say is that any/all stress your sailor has experienced up to this point is nothing compared to what they will deal with during Prototype. 7 day/12 hour shifts running around trying to get checkouts done--quite infuriating sometimes. My sailor's class in prototype has 290 sailors in it and, to be quite frank, the Navy was completely and totally unprepared for this many in one class. There have been a number that have just failed out because they have been unable to get the signatures they need and have been completely unable to get help. This is all from my sailor--none of this is presumption on my part. I talk to my sailor every day...he has said that is one of the things that keeps him going is talking with me/his dad. We are able to "talk him down" when he gets all hepped up because of the idiocy that they have to deal with...and yes, it's idiocy! He is well ahead of the curve, has had 4 watches within the last 5 days and is okay--right now. He is not a complainer, he merely states it like it is. I've said it before and I'll say it again--both his father and I have told him that we don't care if he drives a garbage truck--we just want him to be happy. So far he's okay. I'm even stocking up on wet-wipes and 5-hour energies for when he deploys (he's a sub vol and all of our conversations are "pro" sub...I think he's crazy, but he really really wants it).

Comment by NAVY-em's_Mom on July 8, 2013 at 9:53am: Chipping in for a taxi, is how most do it. When my son arrived back to GC at the airport, he hooked up with other Navy guys for the taxi ride back, and it only cost him $10.

Comment by cathy on July 8, 2013 at 8:17am: MichianMom - My son and friends would chip in for gas and the one with the car drove until everyone else got cars. If they took a taxi they always shared one to keep the cost down. While I was down there, I noticed many sailors hoofing it. It is a good walk to town but not undoable. It is too far too walk to Walmart though and that seems to be a favorite destination.
