What sucks is when your child has been in this program and busted there butt made good grades but somehow made a mistake on the test Tuesday & didnt finish the last section, even though the grade of what he did finish was ok it came down to point n half off , SO NAVY , how does it feel to punish these Nukes by not allowing them to be in there Power School Graduation this am and worse how it has made his mother heartbroken that she isnt there after we spent $$s for the trip and he was to come back w/us for a few days and i purchased an airline ticket for his return,  If you can see i am PO"d your right,

Why do this test the last days when folks have time, emotions and Money on the line???   More and more i am reading how our "Nukes" are treated and even though i feel regretful in some ways he took this path ,He is an HONORABLE young man and "Working it out"  The hardest thing he told his Dad was i want be there next to my "Shipmates" and i have worked just as hard. No Ceremony to be a part of.    This is nothing more then more Punishment Tactics courtest of the Military!

Anyhow everyone have a great day even though mine(&his) is ruined all our Military folks are deserving and honorable folks whom deserve great rewards in Life.

Mary, some one told me recently.....When you open your eyes in the morning SMILE .   It sets your immune system in motion.

On another note, lets be thinking when we will reach 1900.  Wouldn't you think it could be around Thanksgiving or at least by Dec?  My Mini suncatcher box is full and can be prize/s for the guess/ers of day we reach 1900 members.

And Dor, believing everything is well with you and family.

Mary when large groups send hundreds of care packages to a ship they usually choose a carrier. Just a different aircraft carrier, year after year. When are halfway packages ever sent to guys on subs by a non family member? Never heard of it. Speaking of the haves and the have-nots Lol.

Kayinaz   I think this is oh so true- "if you wake up every morning saying "this sucks" then guess what "it will suck".  Life is what you make it - in the civilian world and in the Navy. "

I have often stated...Confession of belief yields reciept of confession... and ..If your speaking negatives, you can not be believing positively for anything.            I continue to pray for all out sailors, nuc and all others, as with all our military.  I thank God for protecting them, and helping them work together to be THE BEST as they service our country.  (Praying for the USA too.)

On a happy note we are flying to WA to see our sailor for this Veteran's Day weekend! Since visits are few and far between, they are sooooooooo special!

A big hug to you Emily. I think you are finding that being in the fleet is different from the schooling part. It is really living the Navy life with hard work and long separations. My son was encouraged to join the Navy by two different submariners from the "old" school and he is finding it a little different than their experiences. Times have changed with all walks of life!

I just got back from having lunch with my daughter who is married to an ex-nuke who went on and got his a master's in nuclear engineering. I told her about our blog today and she says she never heard him speak particularly negatively about his time on a carrier (the Stennis) but actually still has 5 really close friends he made while in the navy. He's an even-tempered guy that's good at rolling with flow so I expect that helped him. He was out for a short cruise when 9/11 happened and they sailed right out to the Persian Gulf. He feels like he did some good and is grateful to the navy for his education. I hope my son feels somewhat the same eventually.

The conversations with veterans strikes a chord and I couldn't agree more. Just this wk I talked with an old seaman who was on the Mauritania during WWII. Great guy from the Greatest Generation. On the other hand, my BIL has PTSD from Viet Nam so bad he can't work and his problems are legion. I pray daily for our sailors and all our veterans. We owe them so much and I pray the gov't doesn't screw them over.
