good morning everyone!!

i too worry when my son has an exam, which he has one today.   it is the mom in us.   i dont talk to him often, so i have an alarm on my phone for 2100hours to text him good night.  sometimes he texts back and sometimes he doesnt, but it make me feel better.    his fiance said that she was talking to him about that time the other night and he said he just got a text.  she knew it was me saying good night.

Nuke mom I am so hoping that my son will be able to come home for a visit after A School that would be wonderful.

Cathy I was worrying a lot and checking up on my son about school and tests, and a week or so ago he told me not to stress he is fine and I don't need to worry about him...lol he knows me too well I guess.  He did say that he was supposed to be phasing up this week, so he didn't want to do anything to mess it up. I assume that means testing but he doesn't want me to worry. He seems so grown up, and I don't want to interfere to much, so I message him when I see him online or I text him in the evening here and there I try not to push too much he seems to be doing fine.

NancyJo, I am hoping to make all grads for him, but I will make sure I am there for power school.

Tkmec my son is in 1229A but I am not sure yet of the grad date.

juliebelle28 I understand where you are coming from with expensive, I live in AZ and tickets are crazy expensive to fly back east. My daughter wants to fly back home to Albany NY and they want over $600 for a ticket. I keep hoping the prices will go down a bit.

tkmec5 -My son is in 1229A as well, All he told me is it is at the end of Sept. He said he would be home right after that there was no reason for us to come down.  I hope he is right.

Today I received some pictures my friend took at PIR.  AWhat a special time that was.  Although it has been only a month, it seems much longer.  Boy did I stress through BC.  Now I worry about every test he must take.  i suppose a mother does that forever no matter how grownup they may be.  Today the auto transport came and picked up his car to bring down to GC.  Another traumatic moment for Mom.  It seems so definitive.  I guess my baby really is gone.  of course my son is ecstatic to be getting his car.

We met my son at O'Hare at 0500 and spent the whole day there with him. His flight was at 1930. We took him his laptop, his iPhone, iPod, all the charging cables and some food goodies (Jazz apples in particular--his fave).  He didn't (and still doesn't) want his game system(s)--complete shocker, but a good one!  (Now he's much more into running and biking and getting physical.) We actually had a fairly good time at O'Hare--it's a freaking HUGE airport and we explored every inch we were allowed to. We walked and talked and walked and talked.

As usual with the Navy, things have changed quite a bit.  My son PIR'd in October 2010 and we actually got to spend the whole weekend with him.  They didn't fly out until Tuesday 'back then'.  I would still take even a few hours at the airport after going so long with so little contact.  Even though we don't talk much now, at least I know we CAN.  My son is taking the Off Crew exam today, fingers crossed!!
