For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

On a separate note, when we go to visit (after about 6 weeks) and bring him his truck, will we allowed to see his room and where he spends all of his time? Just curious....

Sam was irritated because he didn't have his certificate from the course I required him to take to get the MC license. He was 15 and had only had his permit a few weeks when he could ride his bike to school. He's also slightly irritated by the riding gear requirements but he's willing to follow the rules to have transportation. We were able to get a duplicate certificate from Rider's Edge and they mailed it to him. Luckily, he has a cruiser style bike since he was inly getting a sport bike over my dead body.

Comment by William in Nashua on March 21, 2012 at 6:55pm: Rachael you should just be aware that the Navy requires motorcycle safety course and just two weeks ago in Navy Times there was a big article about how they are going to increase the requirements. It is mentioned briefly here but in the the speech Mabus said if you want to ride in the Navy you will have to take a motorcycle safety course and if you own a sport bike, you will also have to take a separate "sport bike safety course".

So you may want to check it out from the Goose Creek end before shipping the bike not sure he will have a chance to take the required course.

If there isn't time, don't worry about it. Either park at the train station right there at the gate or take one of the shuttles to PIR.

My son was sick the day they sent out the form letters so we never received one and now we don't have a gatepass that we can only get from him. So don't want to worry about him in SC as well. Can't wait to see him on the 30th.
