mom of three, I have a son in Ballston Spa. He started training there in December so this summer he should be done unless he gets picked up, which he would like to do. My goodness, how do you do it with 3 kids in different places in the pipeline? My son at one time thought Japan might be cool but since he got married, the long distance doesn't appeal like it used to. Your PIR is right around the corner.  You should have great weather for it.  Congratulations!

Happy Friday, all!  I have been away waaaay too long, and there is no way I can catch up.  Oh, well.  Welcome, new moms, to the rollercoaster.

We also stayed at the Foster Creek Villas--twice.  Perfect for a long weekend stay, very convenient.  If only they had something like that up in BS; will have to find someplace close and not too expensive for a long weekend visit.

We stayed at the Foster creek Villas in Dec.  It is located right on base, and we needed to have our sailor reserve.  He did that about 2 months ahead .  very nice as others have said.  I think all the units around us were married couples and families.  There was an RV park behind us, I think that was also part of the base.  I have a phone # if anyone wants.

I think I'm talking about different villas though....its on a campground like 30 minutes away from base on a short stay navy campground? The one by base is called foster creek I think. Thank u though! Let me know if u know anything about the other ones!

Thank you NancyJo.  I also have to agree with you, I appreciate all our military.  I have two other kids in the Navy, my daughter Mary is in Japan (IT) and my son Michael is in BC with his PIR on March 30, 2012.  Do you have a son or daughter in the Nuke program?

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on March 15, 2012 at 3:44pm

Congratulations, mom of three. Good for her. I'm with you, I have a whole new appreciation of the military in general but the Nukes in particular!

Hello ladies, my daughter Sara is almost done with Nuke school.  It will be two years in May that she started.  Thank goodness she got through it (lots of blood sweat and tears).  She graduates April 6, 2012.   I can't begin to express my appreciation for our Sailors and for the job they do everyday. Congratulations to our past, present and future Nukes.

I stayed at the Villas and was very satisfied.  Not the Hilton but clean and very convenient.  Also, the Villas fill up with people and we were able to meet families of my sailor's friends.  That's what I liked best.

Has anyone ever stayed in the short stay recreation villas??  In Monck's corner?  My SR PIR'ed February 3rd, and I went down the weekend of the 24th and stayed in the Wyndham Suites, and then I'm going in April and saying at Mainstay Suites.  Anyways, it's costing me about 1000 per weekend (and I'm planning on every 6 weeks) not counting food.  I was thinking if we stayed at the Short Stay Center it might be cheaper, but I want to make sure they are nice.  Let me know if anyone knows anything :)  Thanks!
