While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by Emily-aaronsgirl11 on March 8, 2012 at 5:24pm: rylons- Yes, they still take the exam even if they're running silent somewhere in the Pacific or Atlantic or Arabian Sea. They boat will administer the exam. Even if sailors are on leave, they have the opportunity to take the test by contacting a near-by base and arranging to take the test there.

We are really new at all this - my son is the only one of my children to join the Armed Forces. My dad is an army vet of WWII and my husband is a Vietnam Vet. So glad I found this group.

There is nothing like watching a new life come into this world. And, WOW on your son's rental! Like all5roc, I'm going to have to keep an eye out. My son is just graduating A-school next week (OMG I can't wait to see him!!!!!), but you can never start getting information too early!

Betsyleebig--may I ask where you got the study guide? I'm always on the lookout for study help for my nuke.

Comps on Monday...still willing to set up the sacrifial pyre if needed! :)

If they don't pass I don't think they have another chance to take it until the fall. My son siad only a small percentage pass it. I did buy him a study guide but it didn't come until this week. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for all of them.

I will have to keep up with you, if my son goes there, he would Love that set-up. He will be going to bootcamp june 4, so we have awhile before we get to that phase.

Comment by Mama C (PS E-Class 1202-1) on March 8, 2012 at 8:09am: Question - I heard from another Nuke Mom that her son was taking the E-5 test today. Then last night I saw another sailor post on FB that he was taking the E-5 test. My son posted this morning he too, was taking the E-5 test today.

All three of these sailors are in different phases - 1st guy is 8 or 9 weeks ahead of my sailor in PS. The 3rd sailor hasn't even begun PS. How is it that they are all taking the E-5 test today?

Comment by MN Mom of MM on March 8, 2012 at 1:24am: Just in the last couple days, my sailor has told us he will leave SC and have 7 days to move and report in New York. Now my prayers are for God's helping him get both his Harley and vehicle with his stuff to where he needs to be.

Connie...He told me he is renting a fully furnished 5 bedroom house with 4 others. He didn't say anything about amenities like your son has. OK now to start planning a NY trip.

They can drive and can stay overnight off base in phase II, which is week 4 of classes. Phase III is week 8 of classes. Whether or not they phase up depends on whether they meet all the criteria.
