Sorry, Kimberly, I can't honestly say it gets any easier.  My son left yesterday to go back to Goose Creek.  He's on grad hold right now waiting for word on prototype, and I cried like a baby as I drove away from the airport.

My sailor has headed back to gc today. This was his first visit home since bc and it was wonderful. My arms hurt from hanging on to the bumper.....tell me this gets easier.

Gee, add my son and his three budies who are now in prototype in NY, renting a house in Saratoga Springs.  I wonder if our sailors are just around the corner from each other.  It seems that they are not rooming together--my son has three single buddies.  Good thing the houseful of bachelors has a couple who can cook.  I am planning to send my son a cookbook or two.

seadream - not sure of the answer, but it could help us, too.  My son's car is in my name, but he's looking to get it transferred to him with his own insurance through USAA.

Good morning wise ladies!! I am so confused about the requirements for my son to have his truck on base. The truck is in our name. We took our son off the insurance policy when he left for bootcamp (it saved us a ridiculous amount of money). It is insured, but he is not on the policy right now. We live in Texas, if that matters. He is going to get insurance through USAA, since that seems to be the best for military. But what does he need paperwork-wise to register the truck on base? Thanks in advance!!!

Roxy, if you go to WWW.Navy.mil and click the information index tab at the top right, click on m for move. and there is info on the smart move. My son just moved his car and furniture from SC to Wa. his car made it in 3 days and was dirty but in good shape. He is staying with us until after the holidays, but his furniture will be at the Base in Bremerton, so he just has to find an apt.

@Mary is your son there now? My son is there and renting a house in Saratoga with 4 friends.

Hey ladies, anybody on here have any idea where in Ballston Spa the kids actually go to school?  When I learned that my son was going to GC, immediately I Google Mapped GC and found the barracks and Rickover, etc.  But I have no idea where to begin for BS .... any help?
