Dang Dogs?!!  LOL!  Thanks Mary for the laughs this morning!

Nuke Boy purchased a brand new car just before leaving for BS last November.  He had to have a new bumper put on the front before June as he discovered a "snow bank" on his way home one night.  Er, that's what he said and he was sticking with that story!

All the ladies who've answered my questions about prototype and the Navy lodge in GC, thanks!!!!  It's been very helpful!!  @Emily-sorry I got you confused.  I can do that sometimes because my brain is going 100 miles an hour and my fingers are trying to keep up on the keyboard!!!!  LOL!!!  I usually re-read my posts so I'm not sounding crazy or like an idiot!

I'm so glad to hear that Foster Creek Villas is a decent place.  I'll have my son book it for our visit.  He's very anxious to see his baby brother!  It's been a while.  Sounds like it's a good thing that he's not graduating Power School until 12/2.  That way he will be able to be home for Christmas!!  The other one will be in Japan, but at least I can have 1 of them with us.  Really was hoping for both, but, that's the way the ball bounces in the Navy!  I figured I'm going to make a turkey dinner and ham dinner for my son before he leaves for Japan.  That way he'll at least get the holiday meals I always cook!  I think I'll even get a little Christmas tree to put in the condo too!  I'm sure I'll find one since they put out Christmas decorations so early.

Bandito's Mom--yay!  it's official!!  Bootcamp can be crazy because of the spotty communication but hang in there!  Create/join a group for his ship/division once you have that info;  I literally lived for all the messages between us parents while mine was in BC.

My son was in Ballston Spa last winter and they had a ton of snow. My Southern California son in his mini Cooper didn't do so well.

Thanks for the info, NicksMom.  Now I'm really hoping my son does prototype in NY--then we can compare who gets more snow.  The last few years we seem to have been in a little bubble, with the bulk of the big snowfalls going north and south of us, but missing us.  (Not that I'm complaining.)  So parts of Michigan definitely would get more snow, but us?  Well, we'll see.  Last year, some of North Carolina got waaay more snow than we did.  Funny.

Only a month of NY winter after Christmas?  Um, no, I really don't think so.  Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm guessing they get more snow in BS than we do here in Michigan, and we get snow through March, sometimes in April. Maybe someone with a sailor in BS can enlighten us.

Glad to hear Prototype may be classing up sooner - it seemed like it was closer to 8-9 months for MM's not too long ago.  My son was told that there are 50 spots open for college classes, so he "applied".  He is in the top 30 overall, so he is hoping that means he will have a good chance.  He isn't coming home after he graduates PS in October, but is planning to come home for Christmas.  I hope that works out!

TN Navy Mom, my son did mention that some of the guys who graduated power school in June might be classing up to prototype pretty soon. I'm also hoping my son doesn't class up until after Christmas, but we'll see.

About Foster Creek Villas:  We've stayed in a 3-bedroom unit two times now.  I learned after the first time to bring a frying pan since they didn't have one among the pots and pans.  When we're traveling, if we've got kitchen facilities, we like to make a good breakfast before we head out for the day.  One less meal to eat out, even though my daughter wanted to go to Waffle House.  LOL No Waffle Houses in Michigan.  (She survived.)

Ha ha, We sure weren't fed today.  Ran out of the house without breakfast or coffee.  Seriously thinking of opening up a small coffee and sandwich place right next door to MEPS!!!  We know the area and wouldn't even dare to leave for fear of missing him.  And when the lunch truck came, the announcement was for staff, so no parents went out to grab something either.

Bandito, good luck to your new SR, Seaman Recruit! In just a few weeks he'll be a Sailor! And then ... a baby nuke, as the guys on this site like to remind us. Make sure you carry your cell phone (or forward your home phone to your cell) 24/7 so you don't miss his call!
