OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My thinking is they'll probably make them wait for the holiday stand down... Unless they're classing up for Prototype like ASAP (as in, no grad hold like Aaron had). Then they'd probably give them leave right away. But once again, your guess is as good as mine. :)

Comment by MN Mom of MM on August 30, 2011 at 12:32am: I know the topic of leave after the different schools has been discussed before, but I was thinking that the power school class graduating Dec 2 would actually have leave seperate from the Holiday stand down, and that the leave could be taken at a later time during grad hold....Emily?...Anyone else have info on a grad day that close to a Holiday?

Long weekends like Labor day or Thanksgiving or 4th of July, etc. NPTU (Prototype is a little bit of a different story though). Your son needs to just talk to his SLPO, and they'll get it all straightened out.

And a lot of guys did go home for Thanksgiving last year... I flew in on that Wednesday to Charleston and when I stepped off my plane, there were 200+ sailors in uniform ready to board the planes to go home.

Sad part is - he flies in late Friday night and has to be at the airport by 6 a.m. on Monday and back on base by 1 or 130 p.m. Monday. It's a short weekend for him, but he wanted to come home. Can't blame him!

I am about the same distance for driving and it won't be long before my son tries to come home for a long weekend. Maybe Thanksgiving.

I thought maybe repairs, carpet replacement, painting, you know the usual things that may need to be done. I was disappointed to hear they were putting him off so they could profit on the races. I would be tempted to take my business elsewhere! Shame on them!

Good luck to your son. I wish him good weather. I think the worst part will probably be keeping his dress uniforms well pressed and clean.
