Kat, I told him to be careful not to spend too much. The Mom coming out I know, but he's worked since he was 15 so he is pretty good with his money. I'm fortunate that my sisters husband who is air force is stationed close so hes not all alone for a few more months anyway.

wow Labmom - that is weird that they are the same day.   So hard to believe it's about a year now isn't it?  one down, how many more to go?  it's not that I want the next 5 years to fly by, but...

Kimberly, did you tell him to be careful because he might spend too much, or because he's out in the big new city?  If he spends too much, well, it happens to them all.  And even if he doesn't spend it now, he will later.  They get their rooms set up with bigger TV's, more games, guitars, amps, computers, and who knows what else.   Just when I thought my son had all he needs, well he told me this morning and he bought a remote control oscillating fan because they have NO air circulation in their room.  If you are worried that it is unsafe out there, it isn't bad at all.  The area is nice around the base really, and the mall area is quite nice, the normal mall area with lots of stuff around it.

J's mom, my son already told me he was going to best buy today :) I had to remind him to be careful, but he has a good head on his shoulders.

Hi newbie nuke moms! I've been with this group since last October, and I NEVER feel stupid asking ANY question, be it nuke or Navy ... so ask away ... there's always someone here who can help.

Welcome new moms.  Glad you are all here and that your sons or daughters are finally able to communicate easily with you again.

My son's one year anniversary from the day her left for bootcamp is coming up on Sept. 13.  My how time has flown, with many ups and downs.  He's heading into Power School graduation on Oct. 7.  Just can't believe it's here already.

Yes, welcome, new moms!  And, yes, you will enjoy this group.

Heard from my son yesterday.  He saw Kerri Walsh, the Women's Volleyball Olympic Gold Medalist, at the beach, right next to his group, playing with her daughter.  Pretty cool.  They think there is some volleyball juniors training thing going on this weekend.  I think this was Folly Beach.  I guess you could say he was noticing an older woman.  ha ha
