Have fun with him Dor.  Sounds like a nice trip to WA.  It's nice and cool up that way.

Yup. I'm the last one. Older brother in WA in the Navy and married. Older sister in MO, married, teacher, and two kids. And then me. :P

NavyMomLG - that is funny. I haven't heard that one before either.

My kids about have a cow when I come up with some saying they have never heard before.  I just tell them "geez, you sure aren't on top of all the sayings out there." ha.

Emily, just remember that mom's want everything to be perfect, for everyone, and it does freak us out with trying to make everything perfect and special.  it might seem like she's freaking, but it's all with good intentions.  And you are her baby, so I'm sure it's kind of setting in for her that you will be gone soon, too, and she won't have any kiddos around.  It's a strange feeling and hits us moms like a ton of bricks.

I couldn't hardly wait for my son to leave for bootcamp because he was driving us nuts.  Just a lot of laziness and lack of respect, not that he was out doing bad things.  I kept telling myself "just one more week, just 3 more days."  the morning he left, and two days after that, were probably the worst days of my life.  I never knew I could miss someone so much.  At least I still have my daughter at home, for now.  Your mom won't have anyone, right?

Hang in there and go with the flow. Your mom loves fussing over you.

Hang in there Emily, the time will fly by. Sometimes we mom's just can't help it. My 22 year old claimed I was 'fly'n my freak flag' this weekend. Never heard that one before, and we were just doing yard work!

Don't worry, Elizabeth. I'm still here, too. I'm not so sure I'm going to survive the week dealing with my mother-- she's going nutzo because of everything going on. Not to mention her baby is graduating and she's running around with her head cut off trying to get things together for the party.

I'm definitely counting down the days until I move out... 89!

I think it is probably my taste - I had a cake pop from Starbucks and didn't particularly like that either. Oh well...fun to try new things!
Comment by Kat (MM Nuke) on May 22, 2011 at 6:20pm

no, I did the spice cake balls last week with the cream cheese frosting and they turned out great.  used the white choc. coating.  Hmmm, maybe you don't have a taste for that type of thing.  I like them, but certainly don't eat more than two.

One thing a friend of mine said she does with her spice cake balls is adds an extra egg and uses buttermilk.  I didn't add buttermilk to mine, but added an extra egg.

Comment by NavyMomLG on May 22, 2011 at 6:15pm
I used a spice cake mix with just two tablespoons of cream cheese frosting. Dipped them in white chocolate. The cake alone was so moist I really didn't even need the frosting. Maybe the wrong type of cake.

We didn't get anything more than rain in Oakdale, and now the sun is out and the breeze is beautiful. Sure feel for those in the northern suburbs, quite a bit of damage.

NavyMomLG - what did you mix with the cake crumbs?  I made my first batch with the sugar free coffee creamer liquid and used just enough to moisten it so I could roll it into balls and freeze.  They weren't really sickningly sweet at all.  I used an Almond Joy flavor coffee creamer in yellow cake.   I don't think I could eat a lot of them, but for a festive party or holiday they would be fun to make different flavors.  I just made some today using strawberry cake mix and cream cheese frosting mixed in, coated in chocolate.  Really good, but I'm sending them to school with my daughter tomorrow.  She is a Junior in high school and her friends are going wild over them.
