p.s. that was the only injury...which required stitches to the back of his head.  no broken bones, no spinal damage...every time I see him I thank God he is still around.

favorite kitchen gadgets...my smooth collie (great vacuum cleaner) my cheap pampered chef bread knife, and, although not gadgets, I can't live without a good olive oil, fresh tomatoes and fresh basil.

My boys have kept me busy with accidents and injuries.  We tried out 4 different hospitals in MN with car accidents, broken wrist (skateboarding), broken nose (brotherly "love") hypothermia (falling into the Rum River canoeing) 2nd degree burn, such variety!  The worst was my NUKE/ET coming home in our F150 truck, reached for a CD that fell, over corrected and the truck rolled twice BEFORE it hit a telephone pole.  The windshield and top of the truck were so smashed he had to crawl out the small back window to get out.  He nicked an artery in the back of his head and an older couple took him in until the police and ambulance arrived, bless their hearts, with him bleeding all over their front room.  He was wearing his seat belt, and I guess I've already said how I feel about guardian angels.  GOD BLESS MOMS!  We should all be nut cases.

nvmomma -thanks about profile photo and I'm pretty sure the oreo balls are like the cake balls, now that you mentioned it that is what I had at Christmas too - it was like an Oreo Ball.

I received the call at 3am one morning & I ended up beating the ambulance to the hospital. Luckily he's ok & by coincidence his boards are scheduled for 05/19 which is 4 years to the day from the accident.

I have always said I would rather get the phone call than the knock at the door.

Lots of people like their Cutco Knife, what is it? besides obviously a knife-LOL

thanks

Thank you! He is fine, though those injuries keep him from getting in the Coast Guard.

When my oldest son was 19 he flew from Dallas to Denver to help his friend drive his jeep home from college for the summer. At 2am we got a call from his cell phone. It lasted a few SECONDS and my son did not speak, but in that short few seconds I heard these words "We've go to get them out" and sounds like walkie-talkies! I KNEW my son was in a wreck! EEEK! Of course I tried a MILLION times to call his and his friend's cells, the other parents. We had no idea where they were, just somewhere on the road. They WERE in a wreck. Jeep was hit by a huge bus carrying troops. The Jeep folded and the boys were cut out. Thanks to seatbelts and angels they had minor injuries My son was calling me, but hung up. We did not hear from them until THREE LONG HOURS later when my son called from the hospital in Oklahoma. WORST hours of my life. I have had to TEACH myself not to worry, because after that exerience I was a basket case. I have 4 kids and just CAN NOT let worry kill me (though it tries).

SOOOO glad your son is okay!!!!!♥

Amanda, I loved your comment.  I do believe they should have two numbers.  I truly lost it last night.  Later while we were discussing our feelings my daughter said she didn't jump to the worst.  However she did say that in the short time between seeing the id and calling her brother she contemplated having to hop on a plane and get there. My children lost their dad when my son was 14 and my daughter was 19.  We learned of his heart attack from a phone call from our son while it was happening.  I have had that experience so I tend to think the worst.  At twelve o'clock at night why else would they call here?  Certainly not for a misparked car.  My phone for some reason did not have the number on it to redial.  I kept thinking they hung up to get more information on his condition before talking to me.  I do believe I have an over active imagination.

I am so far behind on the kitchen gadget discussion, but i think it's a tie between my cork screw, (which is nothing fancy but it works for me. my boyfriend and i got his mom a REALLY high tech one for christmas) and my wooden spoons. I cook/mix everything with wooden spoons. My mom never used them when i was growing up, it was something i learned in college from various roommates haha

We need to show more sympathy for these people.

* They travel miles in the heat.

* They risk their lives crossing a border.

* They don't get paid enough wages.

* They do jobs that others won't do or are afraid to do.

* They live in crowded conditions among a people who speak a different language.

* They rarely see their families, and they face adversity all day ~ every day.

I'm talking about our troops!

Doesn't it seem strange that so many are willing to lavish all kinds of social benefits on illegals, but don't support our troops?

Wouldn't it be great if we took the $360,000,000,000 (that's billion) we spend on illegals every year, and spend it on our troops!!!

Please pass this on...it is worth the short time it takes.

A veteran is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to ‘The United States of America’ for any amount, up to and including their life.

So much happens in just a day!  Love catching up, smiles, tears, and friendship!!

Favorite kitchen utilsel; wooden spoons.  Plural cuz  I have a drawer full of them and keep finding new ones.

linda~you are much more sophisticated than I; usually just have a bottle of wine with a screw cap :)

Good Luck to all with tests today (including us moms)!!
