The sun is shining today on the 17" of snow that Minneapolis got yesterday. but it is cold only 2 degrees. The Metrodome roof collapsed last night due to the weight of the snow and so the Vikings/Giant game has been postponed until tomorrow and they will be playing in Detroit.
My sons at The University of Minnesota right now in Minneapolis and they closed the campus yesterday because of the blizzard. He said some of the students were snowboarding and sledding down the stairs of the student union. He decided to stay in his room. I told him to enjoy the snow because he starts BC in April and will be in South Carolina next year at this time so it might be awhile before he sees it again, lol. I just home it clears up so we can pick him up next weekend Christmas break.
@Mark, thanks for the info. I think he said it was his advisor who told him about the book...but my son probably didn't realize they can get the book for him. I will tell him to ask tomorrow when he goes to class. Thanks again!
Can anyone help me out - I was thinking that a Nuke candidate that is in bootcamp, comes out as an E3...providing he has college behind him as well. anybody know?
MMNukeMom - your son is talking about the study book for the advancement test from MM3 to MM2. The thing though is that the Navy provides those; they're not available from a bookstore, or Amazon. All he has to do is ask his staff advisor, or whatever they call them these days, and they'll hook him up. It's a little premature for him to be concerned about, just starting "A" school - but it would still be a good thing for him. There is a lot of good information in there that will help him in "A" school; though I'm sure that there will be a lot of other resources available to him as well.
My son is 1104 A, grad date for A school is Feb. 11 (but I guess that's not written in stone). Those MM study guide books sound great, maybe they're available in the NEX? Anybody headed to GC for graduation, please scope it out!
And hey, GO NAVY! Great game today.
Michimon~my son is in class 1101A and I believe his graduation is Jan 21st so they are probably pretty close . Since I only live within 5 hours of the base, I plan on driving over to see his graduation. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your son will see a white Christmas when he comes home. I still miss snow at Christmas having spent most my life in Wisconsin. In Georgia we usually will have one day of snow that might bring as many as 3 inches in one day. It's really fun for the kids here :)
javajo, I don't know exactly when he's graduating. When I asked him, he said he wasn't sure--he had it written down somewhere, and he'd let me know later. He's in class 1102A. He said he had a couple of weeks or so left after Christmas, so my guess is it will be the middle of the month.
MMNukeMom, my son's an MM and I haven't heard anything about a study book. Then again, I just learned I don't know everything there is to know yet. LOL
my son just got to GC last week, he is MM and starts A school next week. he wants me to get him a book called MM2 and/or MM3 - it's some kind of study book that they told him he should get to help study on his own. Can anyone tell me if you know how or where to get this/these books? I've googled and come up with nothing.
