Darla-Thank you-I guess I'll have to drag that new class number out of my son.

tnnavymom-Sounds like I get the same kind of answers as you--When my son drove back to GC-I asked in a text 'Are we there yet?' -his response-- 'yeah'. But he did actually call later on that day.

aaronsgirl-I am worried about him failing an inspection for having a tree.

Parkersmom--where have you gone? I owe you a big Thank You!

Heard this on the radio today. My sailor isn't deployed and he'll be home for Christmas, but it made me cry thinking about all the loved ones that are waiting for their heroes to come home. Thanks to all those who sacrifice this time of year with their families so I can spend it with mine!

Julsburd - definitely lintbrush! My son's girlfriend had a white coat, and it shed horribly, to the point we traded coats with her. Even then, he had to be 'brushed down' every time before we took him back to base. Oh, btw, we had 3 cameras and a camcorder, and let's just say, I'm very glad we ordered the DVD, because our pics came out horrible. Don't know if it was the lighting, angle, or what. Have a great time, and be prepared to hurry up and wait!

I also am a 'list' person, and copied several pages from here on what to do, what to wear, what to take, what to expect, etc. Would be happy to share with you if you'd like.

I know you are not allowed to take pictures outside at GL -- only in the graduation hall. There were people who were doing it, but I have heard that the guards will make you delete the pictures or take the camera.

I assume this is true of all military bases for security.

Hello:

My husband and I are on our way to visit our sailor in Goose Creek. He is in his second week of A - ET - school. Plan on meeting him on Friday after class.

I will take some pictures of the nuke base and post on the site.

I am always happier when I can visualize my sailor's surroundings.

We plan to sight see before visiting our nuke. My sailor wants to see the sights too!

I am reading the comments and getting lots of good information. Thanks to all who post the comments.

Bobbysmom- I was thinking about buying Aaron a small tree for Christmas..I've heard that they can't have candles, candle warmers, plug in air freshners, coffee pots, etc. plugged in. He said he's never gotten in trouble for having anything plugged in. That was my only concern about it. Otherwise I don't see a problem with it.

bobbysproudmom - my sailor just tells me stuff like, if class starts mid January and it's six months, should graduate mid July, Mom, it's the Navy, so "should" doesn't mean a lot, I'll let you know exactly, when I know exactly.

That's the hardest part to get used to, not being able to plan anything ahead of time and I'm the "list" mom. I make lists in preparation of an event and check things off. With the military and it's ever changing schedule, lists mean nothing. It's not going to stop me from making my lists, I just have to leave room for flexability.

Whoops, see it now on your list ... we brought 3 cameras among us, which was a good thing because many of our shots were the backs of people's heads. Be sure to take photos inside the little museum-y hall adjacent to the ceremony hall, there is huge wall photo mural of a carrier that makes a nice backdrop. You're not supposed to take photos outside the hall but I did see people snapping shots in the parking lots, etc. so I guess it's OK immediately after graduation.
