Julsbud~ It is neat that so many are mindful of our military and thanks them for their service. The few times I've been with my son since bc, there was no prouder time than when someone pulled him aside to thank him. :) When I take him home for Christmas vacation to see family and friends I told him he's going to be my 'trophy sailor' and I want to show him off!

Thanks Pat for your help at the VFW. My son was able to get out with my husband and they had a real uneventful, quiet time hanging out in the hotel room. That's all they wanted to do besides take a long hot shower all by themself. He also took another sailor out and they both wanted to do the same thing. Eventually they left the room long enough to get a Steak and Shake junk burger. One of the questions they asked my husband after going out of the hotel was what they should say when people stop and thank them for their service... (I guess they got that a lot). That's pretty neat that they really noticed that and wanted to have a respectful answer. At first they just felt uncomfortable with it all.

Pat L in IL:

Any new Nuke moms with PIR 12/3. Helped serve your recruits Thanksgiving dinner at the VFW. Talked to a lot of them and they had tons of questions. All the volunteers shared their phones so I hope a lot of you got phone calls. It was so much fun and your recruits are FABULOUS!!!!

Hi guys, nothin' to say, just wanted to see if my new profile address came up! You're right, it's time to update, boot camp is over, we're nuke moms now!

Happy belated Thanksgiving, Nuke Moms! We didn't see our sailor this weekend, but we will have him home for two weeks at Christmastime, so that will make up for it. He was adopted for Thanksgiving by a former Marine and his family, along with two other sailors. They watched the Lions game, although that wasn't too much fun, I suppose. (We've long since given up on them!) The wife even gave them leftover turkey and stuffing to take with them, so he has leftovers! Then, after that full meal, he went out with a few buddies to dinner again that evening. I don't have to worry about him not getting enough to eat. LOL Yesterday, he went to see the new Harry Potter movie; said he really enjoyed it.

He's doing great, and is ranked 4th in his class at nuke school, only 1/100th of a point away from 3rd. So proud of him! He said the two guys ranked 1st and 2nd are way ahead of the rest and are crazy smart, so he's ok with his ranking.

Congrats on your son's engagement, Dor.

Yes, i thought it was time to let go of the bootcamp division and move on to his new class AND Nuke school. It's nice for us to have some sort of identifier though, so I like that you too put the MMNuke and class number on yours Denise.

Kat, good idea to update profile name. Time to move forward from boot camp, the sailors certainly have.

Diana, what a lucky mom, I am sure you will enjoy the weekend.

Talked to Spencer last night and he was in good spirits. He spent the day with a Master Chief family and played basketball and a game called "cornhole". He explained it was similar to what we call "washers". I think I prefer the Kansas name. lol.

Our visit on Skype certainly made my day complete.

Now the countdown to Dec. 18...22 days.

Thank you to the Navy moms' family for providing support and guidance through the maze of Navy life. I have learned so much from your sharing of experiences.
