Ahhh! my3sons! Thanks for the announcement. :) It's not in time for a birthday trip, but it is in time for spring break! And Power School Graduation!! :)

And are you serious about the one way security? I bought one way tickets for my Thanksgiving trip. :( US Airways down and Delta back.. It's just what was cheapest. GREAT. Now I'll get special attention. :(

Make that if HE needs to buy one way or round trip. What am I thinking? He's earning money now. lol

Thanks aaronsgirl - Do you think he'll be able to drive his car back after Christmas? I'm trying to figure out plane tickets - if I need to buy one way or round trip.

musicmom- They're allowed to have their own cars (and drive in general) starting Phase 2 which starts about 4 weeks after they class up in Goose Creek. It'll probably take your son one or two weeks to class up after he arrives Goose Creek. :)

At what point are nukes allowed to have their own cars in GC during A school? My son is going on 11/2 but don't know when his classes start yet.

Loretta - I was the same way a few weeks ago. The hardest part of bootcamp is that lack of communication with your SR. I haven't talked to my son since 9/11. He got one other phone call and I missed it but he talked to his sister. We get one letter a week. I'm becoming the family joke because of the way I stalk the mailman. lol

Hi NicksMom..this G&G has me all stressed out. I wish I just knew. When does one generally find out if their son is G&G? My son says (during my ONE phone call last week) that he hasn't been told that but MANY in his ship/div advised their parents they ARE G&G so I am assuming it depends on where you are going? Mine is going Nuke. I just wanna know. LOL

Thanks musicmom...we are doing the same thing. Gonna make it a mini-vacation and hoping to spend much of it with our new sailor. If he doesn't fly out until Tue or Wed, will we be able to see him up until then, or just on the weekend?
Comment by Binker & Bro: 2X Nuke Mom on October 20, 2010 at 2:35am
When Bink traveled from GL to GC, 5 of them were bumped off their flight when the flight was changed for the 5th time and moved up instead of down on the last time. They had to run to try to catch another flight that they got on by the skin of their teeth.

When he flew from home and they asked if he was on orders, he pulled out his chit paperwork and they even let him ship a bag 30 pounds too heavy, "this one time".
Comment by Mark on October 19, 2010 at 11:43pm
I kinda suspected that they gave some slack on the orders thing, so it's nice to hear that the airlines are doing that. The uniform thing has been kind of weird also, with official Navy waffling back and forth on it, so it's also good to hear otherwise on that also. I swear the mall is within walking distance of the Ramada Inn, though... :)
