OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by Dodie on October 29, 2010 at 1:07am: Carol, It was great to get a real letter. He sounded pretty upbeat. Funniest thing in the letter was he said he messed up a couple of times on day 1 and the RDC knew his name "NOT A GOOD THING", but things really turned around and the RDC told him that he forgot his name...lol. He did hurt his knee in PT...fell awkwardly after getting tangled up with another recruit. He's on LLD (limited light duty) but is still with his division and doing physical therapy this week. He did write that he was worried about being setback...

Comment by Gulf Coast Mom on October 28, 2010 at 11:59pm: Dodie-my son was in a 900 division. He was NOT a grad and go. I do not know if that had anything to do with it or not. We spent most the day Friday, most of Sat., Sunday until around 3, then dropped him at the mall to meet some other guys for the movies. He did not leave until Tuesday.

I won't tell my MIL story, since it doesn't have a good ending. She once said to me "we don't dislike you." I vowed to always put my best face forward to any DIL my boys bring home and to get along.

Comment by Dodie on October 28, 2010 at 1:29pm: Question for all of the nuke moms, pir 12/3/10 at Great Lakes has 19 nukes graduating. 16 of them are in ship 9/div 10 which is grad & go. Will the other 3 nukes also be grad & go from the 900 division?

My son should call us this weekend, and now I figure he should get tickets home for the holidays taken care of sooner than later. It seems so far off, but it's not really! He made all of his arrangements flying home for my dad's funeral just a few weeks ago (first time ever!), but for a holiday season it'll be a bit different.

Comment by Karen on October 28, 2010 at 1:17am: Mary(derecksmom), I booked Joe on Dec 17th also. Returning Jan 1st. Hopefully the weather won't interfere. I asked United about the military discount. It was about $35 savings. We upgraded a couple of the long legs to business class for more leg room. Flying to Oregon is a long trip when you are 6 ft tall. And yes, assigning seats is important. Then you can get the aisle or bulk head.
