Kris, Stevens mom,

The last Power School class (1002) to begin started end of Jan / Feb 1st. The next class 1003 starts March 22 (end of March) so it's very close to 2 months between.

Any moms on here who have a son on an overnight cleaning crew waiting for Power School to start Mach 22nd. I had read a post on here that Power School only starts every two months but if one started in February and another will start in March I wonder if they are picking up the pace & moving the guys along.

Does anyone know what kind of housing is available for married sailors in Goose Creek?

I just booked the Wyndham Wingate for Dennis's girlfriend Allison. She is visiting him in a few weeks, After reading all of the reviews on the travel sites and N4M's this seemed like the very best place for her to stay while traveling alone. It has great ratings and there was a real reasonable package on Travelocity that included non-stop airfare from Chicago. I sure hope they have fun.

Hi Ladies,
On Saturday son, Sean, took a 6 person taxi-van to Best Buy and Barnes & Noble with other nukes from PIR 2/19/10 named Patrick, Ben, Brandon, Donovan, and Luis. Do these young men belong to any of you? :)

Our prayers and deepest condolences go out to you Debra, your niece, her little girl, and all who love Sgt Jeremiah T. Wittman of the United States Army. That is just heartbreaking!

KellyAnn just finished her first week at the Naval Science Institute in Rhode Island. She will be there 7 more weeks as she was accepted into the Seaman to Admiral program. Then back to Charleston, SC (and to hubby Petty Officer Craig, also a Nuke) and then to the Citadel.

My husband found these.. Said this is what really goes on at boot camp, except in the videos they don't show how much the recruits are getting yelled at.. He said make sure you write them everyday. :) .. But if you want to see what goes on.. here are the videos..

Bad news on "Simply Delicious". They are closing and the owners are moving back to Texas. Their goodies were fabulous!

Welcome to all the new moms!!!! If your sailors are just arriving for A-school - if you are interested in sending a little happy I will give you a couple ideas. First of all - they are within walking distance of a Subway and mini-nex. They all seem to spend lots of time and $$ at Subway. Because they go to school and study so much (and the cafeteria closes at 1800/1830), some of them buy a Subway and put it in their frig for late night snacking. Buy a Subway card at your local Subway and send it. Many of my phone calls from my son were while he was walking and eating between the Subway and study. The other thing my son appreciated was a NEX giftcard. I don't have the website in front of me - but go to NEX.com. You can order the card and send it directly to him. They have a huge selection of cards you can send for $3.95 along with the gift card. I had fun choosing the card - you can change ink color, fonts, even the message. I have sent the card directly to him and also had it sent to me and then enclosed with a care package. It will be an adventure - my son just finished prototype in Dec and is stationed in Groton now. Feel free to throw out any questions - someone will be along to answer. My biggest problem is that I wanted to hear from him more - but had to realize that their time is pretty much taken up by school, study and sleep. We did establish a Sunday night call - so at least I knew I would hear once a week. I still sent occasional cards and e-mails, but did not expect to hear back. I also sent a tin of popcorn from the Popcorn Factory and a cookie from Ms. Fields - but thought they were kinda expensive. Just keep them in your thoughts and prayers. It will be a big adjustment and the most intense schooling they have ever know. Good luck to you all!!!
