I sent a bunch of those Tide stain sticks to both of my sons. They work really well on whites until they can be washed. I know what you mean, Pat. Before the boys went in the Navy, I use to threaten to post signs on their rooms saying "Hazardous Waste" and "Area Condemned". Now they clean better than I do.

Here's another idea! My son loves "Zout" for getting marks off white clothing before washing. I laugh about discussing laundry tips with the kid who had no idea where the washing machine was located in his own house!!!!

One thing that I do remember Alex telling me was that they had a lot of trouble keeping the carpets clean. The vacuum cleaner just wasn't working very well. So out of desperation they used the disposable lint rollers I had sent him. They got such good comments on their room inspection that they gave up on the vacuum cleaner completely. I lost count of how many of those big lint rollers I sent him.

My son's friend was out on the golf course down in GC. Suddenly his friends started to run away and yell to him. He was so busy concentrating on his shot that he didn't see the alligator coming across the lawn. Alex didn't see any snakes but he was always complaining about the size of the spiders. At one point he was trying to decide whether to kill one or name it and get it a collar & leash.

Cyndi, sorry to hear of Shawn's change in career path. There's roughly a ten per cent drop rate in all A schools, nuke or not. So he isn't the only one who has to go through this. They'll look at his ASVAB line scores to see what he qualifies for, what school seats are open, and what the Navy needs just now. If things go well, he will be offered a choice of rates, not simply be assigned. It could go either way. If he has retained his security clearance, that leaves many fields wide open for him. Here;s hoping he finds what suits him best of all.
Comment by Pat L. in IL on October 3, 2009 at 10:32pm
Dear Cyndi, I am so sorry to hear about Shawn. I will be praying that his new rate will be enjoyable for him and a lot less stress.

Janice, I have seen your son's baby pictures. Tell him he certainly looks like a nuke to me. I have a good feeling about this - he'll pass.

Jeanne--we told our UPS store what the base was, and had a pix of our sailor, so they gave us the military discount. Maybe we just have a super friendly helpful store here in southern Illinois. I always ask, because it doesn't cost anything to ask.
