Judy, My son is in Power School and will grad the same time as your son. What section is your son in? Mine 0905-2.

I've been to both Folly Beach and Isle of the Palms and loved them both. Isle of the Palms has some nice shops near the beach and a pub where you can get some dinner. You pay $5 to park for the day.

Much sympathy to our Nukes...air conditioning out for a couple of days. Hopefully being repaired tomorrow.

Yes, I have heard that Cyndi, its also a fact that they have slashed or eliminated re-enlistment bonuses for most enlisted classifications (rates, basically - not the nuke ones, though).

Hi Cyndi,
The "twenty pounds in two weeks" is mostly not to be taken quite literally, but SUBSTANTIAL progress is probably necessary. Make no mistake, the Navy needs qualified nukes, and will try to get sailors through. You need to know however, that academic problems in "A" school are a red flag, because "A" school is just a warmup for the much more difficult Power school. They would be more flexible on the weight issue, if his academic performance demonstrated that he was highly likely to complete the program successfully. Best wishes to him - he will need to dig very deep, I think. BTW - you did not make a mistake encouraging him, this is life.

Cyndi, My oldest son is a CTN2 and has had weight issues since he left BC. They do threaten him on a regular basis, but as long as they see him make progess in losing some weight they are happy. Well, not happy but at least tolerant. So they are no looking for 20 lbs in two weeks. They just want him to work on the weight thing. Tell him good luck.

gywn - Sounds like your son is doing what my son did. He was port watch section leader - scheduled his division for the watches throughout the night. Had to get up at midnight each night to sign in the new day and was responsible for the documentation of what the others had written. He also was in a 900 division in the choir so each Saturday morning had practice for the graduation. said he did have more interaction with the RDCs because of having to discuss scheduling in the event someone had appts. etc so would not be able to stand watch. He did fine and really enjoyed his BC experience. He is now in prototype and looking forward to finally getting finished and getting out in the fleet. Good luck to your son. Hang in there!!

gwyn... yes, a good thing, although he's also responsible for "his" guys if they mess up.
