Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Charlotte, FYI, when a hurricane was threatening, the plan was to send them to an AFB inland (sorry, I can't remember name of AFB). They have contingency plans in place.

dznymom, Boy, is he gonna be a happy camper today!!! Good room, good food, and a little bit of freedom!! A little time in INDOC and then the work begins. Just be sure to encourage, encourage, encourage. The studying gets pretty intense and positive reinforcement from you means a lot. Welcome! Pat

Kelly - he is working 12 hr shifts this week - he is on swing, so he won't be home until at least midnight.

But.....he accepted his dad, so he better accept me!!! LOL.

I am wondering what kinds of things I will see on his page that maybe I shouldn't - although he has never hidden anything from me, and I know about most everything he has ever done. And my theory is this - he doesn't live at home anymore....and hopefully he turned out pretty good from the way I raised him.

Ok, so I saw a comment i little down further about finding out things on Facebook - first, like what??

Second, I just thought for giggles I would look up my son - why would he be on there, he hasn't said anything to me (I'm thinking this) - and lo and behold, he has a facebook page!!!!!!!!

Guess who just got what for!!!!! LOL

Gaylebeth - with Spencer working these weird shifts now, I don't get to talk to him as much anymore. He is on swings this week so he is 11:30a - 11:30p.

Hopefully Aaron will get out of there soon!!!!

We lucked out on the price of a Budget truck rental--it was half of the U-haul cost to take things from Southern Illinois to Goose Creek. The guy at our end said it was because they needed more trucks driven to Goose Creek to rent out down there. We drove about 900 miles to take it down last week for about $330 for rental and then about 10 mpg for gas. The mountains were only at about 55-62 miles, but it was so gorgeous that we didn't mind the extra time it added to our drive.
