Hi all - HappyMonday!

Ok - hopefully it's not that bad for a Monday lol.  I'm counting down the days until hubby and I leave for Cabo....can't wait.

IslandGirl - we toured the Magnolia Plantation - it was very nice and I would recommend it.  Be sure to see the Angel Oak Tree too.  And of course Foley Beach is fun.  The Ghost Walk tours look like fun too (although we didn't do one).

I bumped the sightseeing in Charleston discussion back into the discussion queue above. There are others, but this is the one that I know has some recent ideas.

And there are some in the Hotel, Villa discussion as well, I believe.

Ladies, it has been a long day on my feet at our local Friends of the Library sale and I am headed back tomorrow.

Hugs to you sea sisters who have been or are going though difficult times.

Islandgirl - glad to hear things are looking up for you sailor daughter. If you go to Charleston's tourism page on the internet you can also find a lot of things.

I will say, the parking meter pricing has changed and I think they charge you even on Saturday evenings. We never figured out the parking garages, but they are there. We usually went down on Church street and parked at a meter. If you need a restroom when walking around in that area, there is one up a little bit inside the walk around indoor mall shops. They close after like 6 pm on Saturday, but there is a hotel there and you can go in there and they have public restrooms, because the others seemed to be closed in the evening.

Islandgirl - we stayed on Isle of Palms twice and loved it. Loved the carriage ride and the harbor tour. Couple of our favorite places to eat were Reds Ice House and Fleet Landing.

Make sure you use groupon. I know they have a carriage ride, plantation tours. You can get the same day

Hey everybody,
I’ll be in Charleston staying on Isle of Palms March 4-11 with 3 other friends. They are all interested in plantation tour, city carriage ride, historical tours and of course good ears and drinks. Can any of you offer advice or favorites or not-to-be-missed sights? I appreciate you all and I’m so glad I found this group. Aloha!

haoo168 hang in there.

Velvetenor-  I was in the same spot for the holidays.  As my sailor explained it Leave starts at 00:01 on the day, whether you leave a that time or not and end a 23:59 on the last day.  It is a straight x number of days and the day of the week or even holidays do not count.  We planed my sailor was home for 8 days that included Christmas and part of 2 weeks.  1 day was travel and 1 day for cushion given we live in the north and flights might get canceled out.  We also booked the first flight out at like 6:20 am and the last flight back so he had as much time as possible with us.

That was our first experience with this and I am trying to get my head around it again for A school grad leave.  In this case it is a question of does leave start Friday after the ceremony or can he have liberty on the weekend like normal and then leave starting on the Monday following.  We would like to spend a bit of time in Charleston but he wants to be home as much a possible.  Either way what every day he leaves Charleston he will return 9 days later for that cushion

Velvetenor - the weekends will count towards the 10 days off.
