Helena2000-Hopefully your son will have correct information and will be able to check the mailroom. I sent one pkg by UPS all the rest I sent by Priority Mail through the US Postal  Service  primarily so I had tracking and could keep my sailor updated on its arrival.

Comment by Kbpoohbear on June 30, 2019 at 9:10pm

I think it depends on who is working in the mailroom. I sent my son stuff to his Ttrack address when he was no longer in Ttrack.1 package made it and 1 was returned.

Comment by helena2000 on June 30, 2019 at 6:23pm

I shipped a package, but he said the address didn't need to include the Class # INDOC, so I hope it doesn't get returned. His phone is in there, so I don't have any way of contacting him until he gets it. He borrowed someone's phone to call with the address and what he wanted shipped.

Comment by Chipmunk on June 30, 2019 at 6:13pm

If your sailor has arrived at GC and you do not know their address yet, or their class number yet, you may use this address. Keep in mind that packages they will have to go to the mail room to pick up, letters will be delivered to their "classes." So, I recommend let your sailor know if you are sending them something, either pkg or letter to be expecting.

FN Last name, First name, MI (FN = Fireman - for MM or EMs)

SN Last name, First name , MI (SN = Seaman - for ETs)

101 NNPTC Circle

Class # INDOC

Goose Creek, SC 29445

(INDOC = Indoctrination which could be a couple of days to a month or so before they class up. Once your sailor knows their class # for A school, replace INDOC with that #, then when they move to PS (Power School) that # will change also.) Prototype addresses will be based on their housing that they move to.

*I pulled this over from the Nuke FAQ group page. Be sure to double check with the US Post Office, and see if the class # needs to go above or below the street address. They are automating more and more things. I don't want something returned to you, because the address was incorrect.

KJNukemom & Camilla - Congratulations to your sailors! Yes, there is a graduation for A school, Power School and Prototype. I will say though that just because your sailors had the same PIR date, does not mean they will have the same A school graduation. Those dates are determined by when your sailor "classes up" and that is based on several factors.

Be sure to read the pages to the up right, click on "view all" Also, you might be interested in reading my discussion above that my sailor helped me write - Nuke A school daily schedule - a sailor's perspective. Familiarize yourself with some of this information and feel free to ask any questions that you may have.

Just left O'Hare and a group of 21 Nukes heading for A-school.

Comment by WearsLargeHats on June 28, 2019 at 9:31pm

BTW, RNnavymom, with nukes, being subvol means they CAN be assigned to submarines, but not necessarily that they will. Fun fact: all Navy nukes work below the waterline. Carrier nukes have to climb a lot more ladders to get topside.
