LOL,  THANKS!

They've already rented a place because they are anxious to get off base. He's got two roommates (one is is sea daddy) and we're working to figure out the best way to furnish, if it's cheaper and better to ship stuff to him, or have him just purchase there.

Just to ship his bed it's about $600-800 depending upon how we pack, so that's not much less than what it would cost to get a new one where he's at.

I'm just amazed it took so long for him to get the pay. I understand the pay is released on the merit of the score, but because he advanced as a student he was lower on the totem pole for pay release than someone who was posted at a duty station.

They just announced the most recent round of sailors who advanced so we figured they wouldn't start paying the new round of those who advanced before the previous round had received their pay.

The Navy seems different than the other branches because they allow those who advance to wear the new patch of the new rate, but hold the pay until they apparently have enough open slots of that rate open.

CSW - that is great news - I'm sure he'll be happy to move off base.  Hopefully he can get a roommate to share the expenses.

Yeah!

Well, son made E-5 in November and was just told he finally gets the pay and gets to move off base!

Yippee!  It is amazing isn't it. :O

3B'smom & NonnaB - Thanks for the engagement ring tips and kind words. She's his college sweetheart and a very nice girl. We're encouraging him to let her finish her degree before they get married since she should be done before he completes nuke school.

Happy graduation day! BZ to all the graduates and congrats to all the parents!

On the road driving home, just found out last night that we may be needed at GC tomorrow to pick up N’s stuff so we are cutting our vacation short. (We booked vacation a year ago not knowing it would be graduation week) He is reporting to one duty station but all of his “stuff” has to be shipped to another due to a home port change “sometime”, but he found out yesterday that if his wants the Navy to do the shipping he will be put on hold because they are backed up. He is opting to take the allowance and do the shipping himself because he doesn’t want to wait, but still doesn’t have enough info to set it up. So unless he gets all straight today, we will be taking the trailer up there tomorrow to pack him up! Fun times :) Just gotta roll with it!
