KayCee - congrats to your sailor! Have a fantastic time!!

B'sNukeMoM - happiest of birthdays to B! If you ever want to surprise him you can fly in to my neck of the woods - I'd be happy to pick you up. B is only about an 1 hour away :)

Chipmunk thank you for the helpful suggestions. I agree that anyone with a nuke in PowerSchool should be aware that this could happen. Since my sailor didn't ask for this additional training that delays his departure from GC he was not expecting to stay longer. I know that everything will work out in the end and that he will learn some valuable lessons. Thank you again for your suggestions.

B'NukeMom - a very happy 30th birthday to B. I can only imagine that you are wondering oh where does the time go.
Our daughter has an electronic picture frame in her room that hasn't been updated for a long long time and pictures will come up of our sailor when he was in late single didgit ages or early double digits. I will just stand and watch and wonder where did those years go. :-)

Thanks NancyJo - you know I'm counting down the days!  They are coming to do wedding stuff and for his little brother's 25th bday and graduation from Grad School.  It's going to be a busy week but I'm sooooo looking forward to it.  Oh and we get to go look at wedding dresses too (well, not B but us girls!)!!!

B'sNuke, happy birthday to your baby! Such a cute little guy in his sailor outfit. It's hard to imagine the big handsome guy he would eventually become. I know August can't come soon enough.

Comment by B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet) on June 19, 2019 at 11:13am

B is 30 today!!! We won't get to see him today since he's in MI and we are in CA but he'll be heading home for a visit in August. Can't wait to celebrate! Love this kid. Happy Dirty 30!

ProudParent - There is a thrift store near NNPTC that is run by Navy wives, I think. That might be an option for at least posting information for a roommate. I don't know if the Ombudsman is a resource for something like this, or the Navy Welfare and Wellness (?not exact names). I would also recommend that he speak to his SLPO and see if he has any guidance.

Just an FYI to those following after - this is something that our sailors need to keep in mind. I know my son didn't seem at all concerned about being able to break his lease. However, if their orders are not for them to leave immediately it can cause problems when rooming with others. My son had the electricity in his name, but had to leave it on for the roommate that was left behind. The other roommate who left early had to lease in either his name or his parent's name. I am not sure how it all worked out, but they managed. They were in an apartment though that is use to renting to the Prototype sailors. This person with the house may not be as lenient, another word of caution for those following behind. They are also instructed in the need for having enough money saved up for their deposits and other things while they are still at NNPTC. At least my son mentioned it to me.

I hope someone else has some better suggestions for you Proud Parent. And congratulations on his graduation!!

Sunflower, tell him to look at Diamonds Direct; they get their diamonds directly from the source. And, congratulations to your son!
