Rime, you may want to consider joining the FB page for Sub Moms called "Heart of the Ocean". B told me about it, and it's also a very friendly group of moms, like this group.

I don’t chime in much but I do read everyone’s post daily! Thanks for sharing and keeping me in the loop. Like a few others, my sailor doesn’t share much. Much love to all of you and your sailors!

Eaglemom01 - I am not much liking the cold weather here in OK either!!

ProudofK, B'sNukeMOm, Buzzbeck- Thanks for the feedback! I think we will go ahead with Swig n Swine. Buzzbeck- we are staying near Sullivan's Beach so I will definitely put that restaurant on our list :)

Hope all are well in areas affected by the storms.  I had to chuckle that is was a colder wind chill in Central Texas this morning than in Groton, CT where my sailor is starting SBOC today.  We don't do cold well here!

Yes Rime...stay. my son is on a sub and this group is invaluable.
Prayers for all of those affected by the deadly tornadoes. Such sad news.

Welcome to our 2 newest members ! Mykidsmom and dylansmom!  Be sure to read the ***NEW MEMBERS*** info at the top of the page.  The Rating Information Card for NF is especially helpful.  Also be sure the read the Pages (17) to the right under the member profiles.  Lots of good info there too.  And of course, feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Rime - sorry you missed his call but glad he texted you letting you know he's back on land.  Now you can breathe easier!  Don't feel you have to leave here just because your son is through the pipeline (besides, you'll find we're more active than the sub group).

I heard about the deadly tornadoes in Alabama & Georgia over the weekend.  I'm not sure if we have any moms in those areas but if you are there please check in and let us know how you are doing.

Happy Monday!

We heard from our son- texted to say "I'm alive." So thankful!  Missed his call but he'll try again when he's off duty next. And this was just a short trip... It is hard on us moms! (Dads too) Going through the pipeline helps parents prepare, too, I see. The further into Training and then prototype, the less we hear. Then they're using their training out underway and nothing for months.... So thankful for all the great tips you have all provided!

I'll likely switch groups to submoms now, but wanted to give a big shout out of thanks to you all first. I'll still peek in here, at times, though. :-)

For furniture at prototype, our son and roomies rented. Worked for them, though air mattresses is a good idea too! I'd stay away from leasing a car though. Older son had big issues w/ that as a Marine!
