While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son flew home on Friday for my daughters wedding. He said that he was very happy to be away from GC for a few days. Unfortunately, my youngest son (21months) caught a nasty virus that sent him to the ER on Frday as well. He finally took a turn for the better today, yay. However, my Hubby had to stay home with him yesterday so neither were at the wedding. The wedding was beautiful. I gained a son-in-law who is fantastic and I got quite a few hugs from my favorite Sailor. It's amazing how much tighter and longer the hugs from him are.
Do they put them through, "Hugging", classes in BC? LOL

Comment by kayinaz on August 10, 2013 at 2:12pm: He will be paid as an E-3 during boot camp but will not put on the shoulder insignia till towards the end of boot camp. During boot camp all are treated equal as recruits. They do deduct for a lot of things during boot camp that are mandatory. He shouldn't expect a huge amount in his account when he graduates. I think my son's account was about $1200 but I could be wrong.

We are fortunate that tonight we are joining a group of Blue Star Mom's at the airport to welcome a soldier home from Afghanistan. He is going to surprise his wife and parents so they won't be there for him - teehee - we are going to surprise him!

Comment by GodBlessAmerica on August 7, 2013 at 11:37pm: The jobs differ from pre fill and grad hold. They also have a different person in charge. Sorry, I don't remember the titles. During grad hold they still live on base. During pre fill they move off of base. Things are changing a little. My son's grad hold was about 1 month. Prefill will be at least 3 months. Personally, I think the Navy needed room on base for some sailors, so put a lot of the grad holds into prefill.
