Sierrascrapper, how wonderful! You are at the beginning of an awesome experience and you are in the right place to do it. Knowing your son will be leaving makes this last year with him especially precious. Come here any time you have questions or just need to tell somebody something or you'll burst. We've been there too. Welcome aboard!

If anyone has a child wit a roommate from Chicago, named Felicia...please let me know.

NikiH, I am not sure that you really need the "invitation" that the Navy sends out.  It is really just for you.

I just have to share...my son took the Nuclear Aptitude Test today at the NORS and he passed with flying colors!  The officer recruiter said he didn't understand why he didn't auto-qualify.  My son will be heading to MEPS this weekend to go through the physical stuff and then he will be joining the DEP until he graduates HS next year. So proud of my son and the future ahead of him.

Does anyone have a Sailer graduating Power School at the end of July?  The Navy sent me info on attending and my nephew tossed it out!  I need a contact to have them send me a new copy.  Any help would be great.  Thanks.

Heading to Goose Creek tomorrow to see my Sailor girl and some family :)

We have gone to Goose Creek twice to meet with our son, once for power school graduation.  We meet him in the Dive parking lot.  He said it is an easy walk.  The parking lot is relatively small, so it is easy for you to spot each other.  The day of graduation, our sailor met us in the morning.  He was in our vehicle as we went through the gate area.  Super easy.  Just know that when you get to the graduation, there will be someone who will be checking inside any bags/purses.  We went inside to get Tshirts.  My purse was checked 3 times.  I really don't care because I understand the safety issues.  However, if I knew ahead of time, I would have left my purse locked up in the car.

That location is inside a secure area.   If you are trying to drive near the campus without going through a gate - look to the left side of the campus where the tennis courts are ( left of the dorms ).

The mini-mart, the sub-way and the dive are all on Fletcher Street which you can drive to without going through a gate.   You can see the parking lots left of the tennis courts on Google Earth.   You can park there and there is a walking gate between the dorms and the mini-mart the students can walk out of the campus on.

All those addresses are on Fletcher Street, such as:   The Dive, Fletcher Street, Goose Creek, SC -- or - Subway, Fletcher Street, Goose Creek, SC,  etc.

Of course on graduation day there will be special arrangements to allow guests on campus, at least that is my understanding, we never made A-School or Power School graduation :(

Comment by NF Mom on June 2, 2013 at 10:07pm

That one works.  It puts you in the middle of the A-School campus, which is also the P-School ( Power School Campus ).

Classroom bulding to the right.  Dorms to the left and above.   Dining Facility ( I believe ) below.

Not the best for proto-type though.
