For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by NAVY-em's_Mom on April 6, 2013 at 11:16pm: I went to Goose Creek over Easter Weekend, my husband went the month before. We both stayed at one of the Marriotts in North Charleston. It's a little more expenive, but since both of us traveled with 5 people (siblings and son's gf), it was worth it. The rooms were larger, as well as having a very nice all you can eat breakfast. My husband was quick to point out, that feeding 5 for breakfast will cost you at least $25 even at a fast food place. It also has an indoor pool which two of the kids used and liked. Additionally, it is located around the corner from several restaurants, a movie theater, mall and less then 2 miles from a Walmart. We had a great time, my son went to 2 movies, a 'ghost' walking tour in downtown Charleston, as well as going to Patriot point, and the Aquarium.

You can take pictures after you are inside the facilities.

Do not take pictures of the front or the guards at the guard post.

We ended up going to Sanno Japanese Express, which is just up the road from the base, because it was close and we were running short on time. It's one of those little store front Hibachi places that always looks a bit sketchy, but the food was good and the sushi was really tasty. I'm campaigning for Hymens on the next trip!

I think we should put together a page for places to eat and visit in Charleston - complete with links to webpages (when available) and reviews from us when we go. Getting around Charleston is not the easiest thing, and I think a guide from moms who've actually been there would be really helpful!
