OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

But 1st he's going to spend the night at the home of another sailor & wife, who have a newborn ... son fancies himself "the baby whisperer" because he can get the little guy to stop crying ...ha ha, wait til he has one of his own!! Anyway, we will have a cake waiting ... congrats to all whose sons&daughters have made it thru the nuke school pipeline ... Mark, does this mean we can finally legitimately call them NUKES?

Comment by angelfire430 on November 28, 2012 at 2:43pm: My son just had PIR on 11/21 and shipped out to SC on 11/23. He said that class for A school won't be starting up unntil after Christmas. Said he should have 17 days leave for Christmas. Any tips or hints for a new Nuke Mom? Thanks!

Comment by Mark on November 28, 2012 at 11:28am: Mary - I'll be curious to hear how that turns out. Historically, USAF recruits usually have to wait the maximum (one year) after signing up to leave for basic. The Air Force has many more applicants than spots available. This has always helped the Navy nuc program, because it has historically been the "high tech" program in the military that offered the shortest time between signing up and shipping out.

txgal---hats off to you!! keeping up with all that. i have 3 sons too. my oldest is in the navy, my second is talking about air force (he graduates from high school this year), and my 3rd (who is also 14) hasnt said. thanks God!!!! im not ready!!

lisarnp---i have stayed at the villas ( which are really nice), the country hearth inn (is ok), and the la quinta hotel (it was ok).
