OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by Connie foaling-lady (Groton) on November 18, 2012 at 11:56am: MN Mom, 2 suggestions for the motorcycle ... choose a motel with 1st floor and park directly in front of your room; put an alarm on the chain used to keep the bike upright in the truck ... oh, and hubby suggests parking in front of the motel office, under the lights, if someone's on duty all night. Also if you decide to go thru PA on way to Ohio .. consider taking the low route, the PA Turnpike (instead of I-80 thru Poconos from NY) .. you could hit historic Philadelphia and then Valley Forge. And if you get a late start leaving NY, we are 4 hrs from BS in Bucks County, PA, and we'd love to have you sleep overnight at our horse farm, the PA Turnpike is 40 min from us and it's about 7 1/2 hrs to the Ohio line.

The thing now on my mind is how concerned should you be when you have a motorcycle and belongings in the back of your pickup when you stay overnight on the road. You can tell I have never moved cross country before. Suggestions and guidance welcome.

Comment by GodBlessAmerica on November 16, 2012 at 5:07pm: MN Mom, when my sailor was in high school we left Milwaukee and went to New Jersey, we were doing a historic vacation and actually stayed in NJ, across the river from Philly. The drive was beautiful and an easy drive. When you are in NJ, you are unable to fill up your own gas tank. I will look at what high way we took. If you have a little extra time, take it and see the memorial where the plane went down in the Pennyslvania field. In my opinion, it was a very moving spot. Since we were there, they built the memorial. I'll be going back there. If you drive through Milwaukee area during a break time, I would love to meet you.

Comment by MN Mom of MM on November 15, 2012 at 10:30pm: Yep, My sailor also confirmed that graduation is the 29th and he detaches the 30th. I am flying out the 28th, and driving back with him to MN. I will be looking at mapquest soon to kinda plan out the route. I know it to be about 1200-1300 miles and I think the weather will determine the actual route. Suggestions welcomed from anyone having traveled thru NY_PA_OH-IN-IL-WI to MN.

On another note, Those who have not guessed yet for the date of the 1900th member, There can be more than 1 person on a date. Last time we had 3 winners.
