OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son experienced times where they had to be completely silent in class and in study hall, for weeks. Times when they had to wear dress uniforms every day for a while, and other things. I know it's hard, but they have to get control somehow. I guess there can actually be a lot of horse play, so to speak, going on, especially during study hall, so they need to reel them back in. On the bright side.....he is safe, warm, fed, and has all his toys in his room hopefully so at least they will have something to do on Thanksgiving.

Comment by Kat (MM Nuke) on November 19, 2011 at 1:41am: J's mom - when I changed my son to USAA earlier this year, he was able to go on his own policy, get back comprehensive and collision (which we weren't carrying on it because of the age and value) AND he picked up renters insurance that will cover him on base, on a ship, in a foreign country, replaces uniforms if something happens to them, replaces equipment on base if he breaks it (and would have covered anything in his room if that hurricane had hit them and blown out the windows) and much more, all for the same amount as he was paying to be on our policy with no comp. and collision. Rates in SC are cheaper than AZ too. My husband was marine corp, so we also qualify to get USAA. I actually never knew about them until our son joined the Navy, then started hearing all kinds of commercials about them. I finally called them a couple weeks ago to get a quote for our insurance, with a teenage daughter on our policy. You will not believe this, but our rate went down by 50% for the same exact coverage. And I've been hearing from quite a few people, insured and contractors, about how good USAA is. It is definately worth checking into.
