I didn't get any instruction sheet either when I printed my son's Navy W-2.  When I entered everything on Turbo Tax and on H & R block, neither of them asked.  There is a spot that it asks if you were military and I put yes, plus you put in the id number on the W-2 which I believe verifies it, it the program did the rest.

Arizona also does not collect state taxes for military, so he was able to deduct the Navy pay from his adjusted gross income for federal.

I was awake one night wondering about it all, after he told me Arizona does collect state taxes, so got online and looked it up and sure enough, exempt from state taxes.

TAX QUESTION, here we go again, I know we're off that subject already but our accountant just called, she's doing our son's taxes (my gift to him, last time now that he's 18!). Q. #1  is there an instruction form that goes with the Navy W-2? I downloaded and printed a copy of my sailor's W-2 when he walked me thru the password over the phone but only got the W-2 form, accountant says there's a special federal instruction sheet that should go with it.  Q#2 why didn't the Navy withhold state (Pennsylvania) taxes from his pay? He is still considered a Penna resident for 2010 (went to boot camp end of August) and we're taking him as a dependent. Advice, suggestions, thoughts????

Mrs. Andy, come on down! We can always borrow some inflatable mattresses. For those of you w nukes in Hawaii, Japan or Guam - San Fran could be your flight change-over destination. 65-70 degrees this weekend. I am half way between San Fran and San Jose airports.

@Kris, she is a cutie. Our sailor is taken but his younger 22 year old bro is available - he is currently in OK studying petroleum engineering - he is the one who wants a trophy wife w a Mensa IQ. Scroll back a few pages, you'll see photo of him w dad and bro.

@amanda, you have quite an imagination - we probably looked like a bunch of friendly labs and retrievers but inside lurks the hearts of pit bulls (your nukes are stubborn for a reason - they got it from their mamas).

@y'all up if the Claremont won't put- elizabeth and I could probably manage - I have two guest rooms (one with a queen size bed) and two couches in fam rm and liv rm - I could take 5 Hinies.

Here is the jpg file. Click on the jpg file and save it on YOUR hard drive.  To copy an image. Point your mouse over the center part of the image. Right click, scroll down to "save image as", a window will part pop up for you to name your file and the placement of the file (which folder). Of course, I have created a folder names "N4M" with a bunch of sub folders.

My son wil wear his uniform when he's home; likes the blues better cuz they don't show dirt :)  He went to midnight mass and had many older people comment to him.  One little lady said she was glad to see young people still respected and served; made her departed husbands service worthwhile.  Made me get tears in my eyes.  Side note: not many sailors from WY so he definately stands out!

Stay warm and have a great day!
