While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by GodBlessAmerica on June 2, 2012 at 10:30pm: To the parent who was asking about widow maker. It is a test that is taken during Aschool. Obviously, by the name, it is a big test and requires a lot of studying prior.

As far as the phasing up question, if for some reason, they are unable to phase up, they are given opportunities later to phase up. Also, on the flip side, if they phase up and abuse the privelages, they can be "phase stripped." It is the same with the mandatory study hours. They can earn the luxury of not having mandatory study hours. However, if the sailor doesn't continue to perform academically, then he/she will be given mandatory study hours.

I just bought my sailor some of the insect repellant. I am waiting to hear how he likes it. It was kind of funny because he never complained about the mosquitoes until he was at home and told some stories about the "birds." LOL I told him about the repellant, and he was immediately interested.

His graduation yesterday was great and I owe. A big thank you to this site am all who contribute to the bootcamp site. That being said, I am very excited to get to know and learn from you here

I know it seems so unfair, but I guess the Navy has their reasons for doing the things they do. A friend daughter was losing weight during boot camp, because she didn't eat much when under stress. She was there for 7 1/2 weeks wen they sent her home for losing too much weight. It was very upsetting for her, but she was told that she needed professional help and once she resolved her eating issues she could have another chance in 2 years. It was awful to be so close and then have it all taken away. I agree with suebal have her tested by a specialist. :( sorry

Comment by susank on June 1, 2012 at 9:15pm: Delbert, my son had a friend that had to end his Navy Career because of Asthma after he went through OCS, Power School, and Prototype. Actually it was at the end of prototype before he made it to the fleet. They take asthma very seriously. So sorry!!
