What a day!  My sailor has needed to go to Sick Call all week because of an infection on the side of his neck, but could not miss any of the Prevention sessions this week if he was going to graduate today.  So, he went to Sick Call at 5:30am this morning and got his neck lanced, drained, and packed.  He also got a bunch of meds and then headed to graduation.  He got there a half a hour before graduation started, but since he was so late he wasn't allowed on the platform and had to stand in the back.  But what matters is he is still graduated and he is coming home tomorrow.  Still waiting for the culture to come back on his infection to see if it is MRSA or not.

I had to laugh over the names they call themselves.  Unfortunately, my sailor is going to have another name for a few weeks at least.  He graduated A School without getting his crows.  He had a few too many infractions, but he graduated and we are very pleased.  His new nickname is Muffin, for MMFN.  I am sure he will live through it.

See, we all hear different things.  I guess there is no rhyme or reason, just go with the flow.

Sherri, My son said the same thing about grades and Power school hold.

Thanks for all the compliments, ladies! It's definitely a huge change!

Sharon- Tell Kelsey to check out the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program. They're a lot less strict on who can donate and what they can accept...Plus, any hair they don't use they don't sell like Locks of Love does. And with locks of love, the recipient has to demonstrate financial need for a wig... Not with Pantene. When I decided I was going to donate, I was told to look seriously at the two programs, and to me Pantene was the obvious answer.

Sherri- It's completely random. Aaron is in your son's class (he's section 2 not 3), and they split the EMs evenly... 35 to NY, 35 in SC, and 35 on hold. When Aaron was in A school, Casey answered someone's question about how they pick.. And she said her husband's SLPO literally put names in a hat as to who was going to NY and who was staying.

welcome shanscat!  You'll find a great group here!  I've loved being a part of this group...all the ladies are so helpful!

Sherri - i don't know anything about how they decide who is on hold and who isn't, but my son told me last week, when he was home on leave after A school, that they were told those with the lower grades generally go into the next class first as they feel they have a lower retention of the materials.  I don't know if that has anything to do with anything, but just something he mentioned.

@my3sons, sadly we lost our brother-in-law to the "widow maker" on 02 December 09. He had turned 49 on 08 November, was having problems, went to the doctor's and they treated him for "heartburn" for a while. He was still having problems, sent him for a stress test. He had what we call in the medical field a "positive" test and was to have a heart cath on 03 December. My sister was left a widow at the age of 48 with two sons, ages 7 and 13 at the time. It has devasted all of us, she has a lot on her plate. I firmly believe the doctors dropped the ball on this one and she has a suit against them. There is so much more to this story, but he shouldn't have died. So, take the advice and take a "bayer" a day!!

@ Emily, the haircut is cute. Our daughter, Kacy has donated to Locks of Love three times over the years after a friend was diagnosed with leukemia. she won't be able to donate now because she highlights her hair.

Welcome shanscat!!!!!

Emily, you are so fun to follow on this site.  I am mom to 4 sons, and I really enjoy hearing things from the perspective of a young lady.  Thanks for your kind donation.  The hair looks great, and you are making someone else very happy in a very difficult time.  THANKS!!
