For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

NancyJo - hubby is improving but not as quickly as he should. This is a stubborn infection - hopefully today he will get the results of the culture they took. I can't believe a fall off a ladder has become this ;</

Comment by Chipmunk on August 13, 2018 at 11:40am: Maggi, we are glad you are here. Your son will have career instruction around the 6th week of BC as I recall. It will be decided then which Nuke rating he will go to GC with, either MM, EM or ET. Various factors go into play for deciding which rate they are given, but bottom line is "needs of the Navy." Just to understand, if they go into one rate and they are having difficulty with it and it is recommended that they change rates - they are not allowed to change to a different Nuke rate, they have to go elsewhere in the Navy. So, it is in the best interest of the sailor to be placed where hopefully they will excel the most.

As for Christmas, it just sort of depends. My son's PIR was Aug. 25, 2017 last year but he did not "class up" start A school until the first part of Oct. His class was given a 2 week Christmas leave (they either took all or none of it), but then they only had a 3 day liberty leave after their A school graduation in April, because they had an extra week at Christmas.

Some were able to go home for Thanksgiving, and it just depends on the distance, what they have phased up to. Various factors. They do start earning their vacation leave once they get to BC.
