If any of you aren't on our private facebook page yet, have Emily add you so we can give more details of Power School oct. 7 graduation, names, etc.  Sorry Emily, I volunteered you.  I don't know how to do it, but I do know how to update our cheat sheet on there.

Hey nicole! Glad to hear you're getting reacquainted. :)

Aaron is a lil over halfway through Prototype right now... And I'm sorry to break it to you but it stinks. haha. Read This Blog . It was suggested to me by another lovely lady on here.. can't remember who. Basically, the first seven weeks they work 7a-7p M-F. And the last however many weeks they rotate shifts for 7 day weeks. So one week Aaron will work 12p-12a for 7 days and then have two days (really just a day and a half) off before he goes to work 7a-7p. Then 7p-7a. Then a four day week of 6:30a-6:30p. And the glorious four day weekend. :) The goal is to stay with/ahead of the "Curve" which is a guideline for where they should be in their studies. To stay with the curve, they have to earn so many points a week (called "Delta") which are earned by studying certain things and then tracking down an instructor to prove to them that they know their stuff. There's big tests along the way, too. Like the 50%, the 100%, and Final Boards. Which I guess you could compare to comp. I read on Aaron's papers that the 100% test is like 5 hours long for Enlisted and 9 hours long for Officers. :/

If you have any questions, let me know, and I'll try to answer. :)

Hey Denise ... just a reminder (as my son tells me!!) in the Navy it is Hooyah !!!  lol

At this time my son is looking for a 12/2  Power School graduation.  There are a few of us on here with the same date...just not too many.

Comment by Kat (MM Nuke) on August 7, 2011 at 11:34pm
Do we have a group started for power school grad. on Oct 7?  Maybe we should so we all know who to look for.  I can't keep track now.

Hi Ladies! I'm new to this board, but not N4M. My sailor and i took a break about a year ago ( while he was in Aschool,) and have begun talking again as he begins prototype up in NY (he moves up there next week)

basically having missed MOST of his training, if any one could let me know what I can expect for prototype? schedules/ some pros/cons/ little tricks to not losing your mind?

(keep in mind we are not dating again, just becoming re-acquainted and such... just want to know what to expect should he decide that we should get back together)

thanks in advance!

Hi to Labmom - My son is also graduating power school on 10/07, and my husband, son and I are planning to go.  He is also hoping to go to prototypel in NY.  We're not as close as you, but since we live in the Philly area, NY would be much easier for visiting.  I, too, hope that David can take college courses in between power school and prototype.  He's very close to having a degree.  I also have not been active on this website since boot camp, but now am getting very excited about graduation.  Looking forward to meeting you and other families at graduation.

Woohoo for quick wisdom teeth recoveries. :)
Bandito- I'm not sure on that. I would def. have him sign a power of attorney for her, however. So if she wants to get things like that taken care of while he's gone, she won't have a problem.

Thought I would share my son's fb status.   Brought tears to my eyes to "hear" his dedication to his decision to be a member of the US Navy.

I remember back 2 years ago, I was in Dodge with the marines and a retired master gunnery sargeant came to talk to us, he said, "Everyone has a job in the military and that job is important, whatever job u have, kick ass at it whether your a mailman or a grunt, its all important and it all keeps someone else alive". If I have to go through nuke hell to do my job then I'm gonna do it, there is not gonna be another seal team 6 causalty like that if I can help it.

My reply:   Oorahh!!

Can they get USAA insurance as soon as he goes to boot camp?  Wondering if his wife should arrange for the car to be changed over.
