oh my goodness everyone!  I want you to know I literally have tears in my eyes and think I may just cry from all your wonderful wishes!!  I put this because I don't cry...not at all!  I teared up at my son's swearing in, but that was it...my hubby, daughter, niece nephew, the GF, both gma's and both gpa's were bawling...but nope not me...teary eyed was all I got...and I today...yep same thing, and on the verge of crying!

I am so glad you said that about staying...I want to stay, I love this group, you all have become such good friends to me!  I love you all and love to hear the progress on the families!  While my son won't be a nuke, that's ok...he met alot of guys that are going to be, or that also tried and didn't make it and moved on.  I told my future DIL today, as we were waiting to hear any news (get into that today)...she was sad that she wouldn't be moving to GC and feels akward about speaking to the NUKE gf's, fiances and wives now since she's not going to be living there or anything.  I told to stop with that kind of attitude and not to think that way at all!  That at some point those guys/gals will not be in GC casue they will be done with the program, or who knows, others may end up not making it all the way--you never know...but at any rate, at some point they may end up in the future on the same base, and if not then there is no reason not to stay in contact and conitnue building friendships, b/c they may need help in that city where that couple may be stationed!  She was like...thats so true, I don't have to stop being friends with them!  I told her it was nothing to be ashamed of at all!  and if they move to somewhere...sooner or later, she will meet new people, all her friends she's made so far will still be friends, and with all the moms, gfs, wives we know...surely someone will know someone that will be stationed with them!  made her much happier to hear that!

oh, I was going to ask to stay here anyway, cause I love you all and at some point in the future, I may be able to help someone else whose loved one was struggling!

Now...Michael did not hear anything today...he went in and nothing at all was offered to him nor discussed with him....he was ok before going in, but then I think since he didn't hear or find out anything it upset him all over again..just the not knowing part.  So, about 2pm, he found out he goes back in tomorrow..so we'll see what it brings us!  I think being all alone today was a downer for him..I mean all the guys were in school, he couldn't go, he doesn't have a "job" to do, so he's bored, lonely and doesn't know what his future may bring.  I'm praying for a great fit...so many jobs he knows could be offered, but will any of them be offered?  Only time will tell!

Oh, and William, yes, he has been rated and advanced...he's the PO 3rd class and is a  MM...so he'll be conventional not nuke..so he'll only be reclassified from what I hear.  He loves the MM rating, but in the convential part, being an EM or ET would be better at this point...just b/c in the conventional part, there are more opportunities for them (better advancement, etc)...but find the right job, and be happy in it, and be at the top in that area, and you still have your advancement opportunities!

Sorry, elizabeth :( I know how that feels. Before I know it I will be back to pining for him again...and then it will be your turn to celebrate time with your sailor!

Emily2...welcome.  It doesn't surprise me that Emily cheered you up one random night.  She just seems to be that type of gal.  nvmomma...very jealous right now of you.  EMily1  I am too cheap to pay for luggage.  I flew Southwest last time and I really liked it.  Free luggage..yay.

So very happy!  Just heard from my son and he is so excited.  He's in power school and today he had a physics test and scored a 3.5 on it.  So very proud of him!!!!  Hope to go and see him soon.

I just had a wonderful lunch date with my sailor son, another treasure for my heart. The time is slipping away so quickly...

Haha Emily, I remember the photo you posted a while ago of your accomplished packing skills! I was so impressed. I must confess that I too need to bring along some kind of comfort from home when I travel - blankie, teddy bear...some people never outgrow it. :/ And of course you need your computer, to keep up with us crazy moms (not to mention skyping with your man)...

I hate packing for trips that I'm flying on. We're too cheap to check luggage so I always have to pack a tiny suitcase that barely fits anything. Of course I can manage to pack plenty in it (thank you to whoever taught me to roll my clothes), but it's such a chore! haha. I thought I was good to go and then I keep remembering more things I have to fit in there... computer, blanket, shoes! I know, I know. Blanket doesn't seem necessary, but I'm just as attached to my blankets as I am to my bunny sailor. I can't sleep without them (except when I'm with Aaron then the bunny sort of gets thrown to the dogs. haha).

CAnavymom, have a great time at PIR! That is still one of the most memorable moments of my life. It's a great time to be in the Chicago area now too, hope you have a relaxing vacation!

I feel like I should introduce myself. Or reintroduce myself (it's been a really long time since I've been active on here. I wanted to come back!) I'm Emily, a nuke fiancee. My sailor, Geoff, is currently on grad hold. He's an MM and graduated in June. We haven't heard yet when he starts prototype. We're hoping for December, but it could very well be October. I'm a sophomore nursing student in Missouri. Our plan is to get married (a real wedding) next summer/right after prototype. Hopefully the Navy cooperates.
The coolest thing is that I was invited here by the other Emily, Aaron's Emily. She randomly messaged me while Geoff was in bootcamp and helped cheer me up when I was having a really rough night. We've been friends ever since. And we've even gotten to hang out twice on trips to SC. So...she invited me onto here, and I'm back! I hope to get to know each and every one of you, and all of your stories! :)
That's me in a nutshell.
