had to brag, just made an amazing dinner after work! boriled a steak since i dont have a grill, then made a vegetable medley of zuchnni squash and a yellow onion. sauteed with butter salt and pepper. probably the best part of the meal! was gonna save the left over veggies for tomorrow night but i may eat the rest later since they were so good! it's hard to cook for one, and not as fun, but when i do find the time to cook (and not pop something in the microwave out of the freezer) i seem to outdo myself. still limited on what i can cook but slowly learning

smithersk, you lucky family, you! Ballston Spa is basically Saratoga, NY ... playground of the rich during summer months ... it's spectacularly beautiful in the fall ... things to do? One word: RACETRACK! Saratoga the town is soooo cool, lovely old mansions in town, little bistros and cafes, and the racing is the best in the world. Lots of trees, picnic tables, oh, I so envy your sailor. My son's still in power school, and I am crossing fingers and toes that he 1/ gets thru this phase and 2/ gets NY for prototype!

Dor, sad to hear about your not being included in that event.  Just remember, you are still an important part of his life, and try to get to know the new DOL, and include her in as many family things as you can.  Hopefully, you'll get to love her as much as your son does...??  mn linda, so sorry about your puppy.  Can't stand the thought of losing my collie someday.

This morning I saw a baby robin that had fallen out of the nest (or was he pushed?) and all he could do was hop around.  His wings weren't strong enough to fly.  All the mother robin could do was hop along side and watch over him, hoping her loud squawks would make it all right.  Just like our nukes.  Some leave, some are "pushed" out of the nest, but most of them find the strength to fly away in time.   Personally, I'd like to think the squawking helped a little!  ;)
