My son is graduating Power School on June 17th and I don't think he is moving out of his room immediately.  At least I don't think he is moving out of the  BQs.  I know he still has the same roommate and his roommate graduated Power School a month or more ago and has not moved out.

wow nvmomma, that is a lot on his plate in a short amount of time.  He'll feel soooooo good and relieved when it's over.  So will you.   I'm sure he'll do well.

My sailor is in the middle of a busy couple of weeks: 4 part test for his last A School class this Tu-Th, moved into his new PS room yesterday, 23rd birthday on Sunday, comps Monday, A School grad next Friday. Whew, what a pace! Sure wish I could be there for grad. Can't wait to see him in July.

Thanks Emily.  Somehow I knew you would know :).

If anyone else has other info, I'd appreciate it.

That's the only place I know of as to where the info is.

I know we talked about this not long ago, but of course I didn't write the info down: what is the link about what credits our Nukes earn toward college? and what colleges?

Emily, your family looks happy.  In today's world that is an accomplishment!

Homesickness--my son has admitted it more than once and I can only reassure him of our love and commitment to him.  Surprised me cuz he was going to get out and see the world; has deeper ties than he knew.  I think visits helped but when people went home it was worse.  I agree with getting out and getting involved; when he was doing with or for others life was more bearable.

Fool Me Once- The Villas! :) Especially if you'll be there for an extended period of time. They're old apartments on base that are rented out as hotel rooms. Kitchen, living room, bathrooms, bedrooms, washer, dryer, the works. Super cheap- about 60 bucks a night for a two bedroom. Only downside: they fill up fast for holiday weekends. Your sailor has to reserve them (or someone with a mil ID), but you can put it on your credit card apparently. Also, for holiday weekends you're required to reserve for at least 3 nights and pay up front with no refunds.
Otherwise, hotels in North Charleston are pretty decent. I would stay away from the Goose Creek area-- Its not the worst, but not the greatest. To put it simply, I wouldn't feel safe staying there especially alone.

P.S. Welcome to the group! :)

Hi Nuke moms

My son is 6/10 PIR then headed to Charleston.  He will celebrate his 21st on July 3rd.  My daughter and I will be traveling back from NJ to FL at that time, and are planning to be there for his birthday.  Any recommendations on where we should stay?
