I am just sitting here watching TV and thinking how much I am missing my little boy son.  THe one I used to watch TV with and play cards with.  We had so much fun when he was little, together.  THen when he got older he was the kid that always had his toes on or over the line.  THat was analogy I used with him often.  Then I signed on and checked Nuke Moms and I can't believe this is the topic!  I'm sorry Diana, I live in fear of that situation, I think every time my son calls he is going to tell me something similar.  Labmom...I feel your loneliness!

Diana, my heart goes out to you.  My older kids always seemed to test that line drawn in the sand, and sometimes go over it!   I know that there's a purpose in these experiences we're given in life.  God bless you and your son.  Hoping you find the comfort and strength you need.

and Labmom, when I am missing my son, I put together a "care" package.  My latest?  A medicine chest in a shoebox.  Every OTC thing he might need from Tinactin (for athlete's foot) to Allegra for allergies.  and some skittles, for good measure...lol

I just got a letter from my son at bootcamp and his rating is an EM.  He wanted ET but got EM.  Does anyone have any information on EM that I could pass on to him.

Hugs to you, Diana. We're always here to support you no matter what happens. Hang in there. :)

I haven't been saying much lately.  Things have been difficult for my sailor.  Too bad he doesn't stay as far away from the line as possible, instead of seeing how close he can get to it without going over.  Sigh!  He is going to Captain's Mast on Thursday or Friday.  After that, I don't know if he will still be in the Nuke program or not.  Who was it that said being a mom to these sailors is a rough road?  It sure is.  They are too smart for their own good sometimes, but I keep reminding myself that God is still on the throne and He is still in complete control over what the outcome is.

The flights to Charleston (Nukes) from Midway are usually only in the evenings on Saturday (Southwest). My son was taken to airport on Saturday at 3am, we went (at 6:30am) and around 9am rode the train into Chicago for most of the day. His flight did not leave until 7:55pm! Southwest allows two carry-on bags, so he had his backpack and his laptop bag. It was tough to cram his overcoat into his seabag, but he was able to... otherwise the overcoat counts as a carry-on. We had a great day seeing the city and eating with him (much cheaper in town than at the airport). The USO is wonderful! Such amazing volunteers and free food, candy and sodas for them to have while they wait. Internet and computers available as well for them to use as well as free wi-fi.  They encourage them to stuff their coat pockets with the donated candy, so unless your Sailor likes something specific, they will have many choices.

Oh my goodness! How terrible! I'm glad he's okay. :)

Emily,Just a little humor to a day at work that was very humorless.  I am so glad it is over and I am home.  I won't even begin to describe it however one part included a church sexton in the campus I work on falling from the roof.  He is 72.  He is OK, thank goodness!

navystepdad -- there is also probably a group here on N4M that is for people in the PIR 6/10.  We have over 100 members for the 6/3 group.  You may be able to hook up with others that are even in the same division as your son and swap info from the few letters you get.

Well, it's finally spring in Minnesota, at least for a couple of days.  It went from the low 50's over the weekend to the high 80's today - too drastic for me!  I am supposed to be running right now, but the humidity is almost visible, and I haven't even walked in this kind of heat for months.  Much more fun sitting online for a little while!  Hope all you PS class 1104's are getting good news about today's test.
