Thanks, Mary! I'll let her know. :)

Yep, that's the way I understand it Mrs. Andy. Once the federal is done it's very easy to do the state by hand, also both are pretty easy when they do the EZ forms. It's ours that get so complicated with all the schedules and deductions and investments stuff, etc. Yuck.

LeeAnn - congrats on your son heading off to bootcamp. It's an emotional roller coaster, but in the end you will be so happy and proud. Make sure to connect with all the boot camp moms, then also your son's PIR moms, then finally his division moms. You will get his division number a week or two after he arrives at GL. Good luck to you all as you make the journey.

I believe that you can use the Turbo Tax online for the federal EZ form free.
Comment by Kat (MM Nuke) on January 25, 2011 at 1:12pm
yes, used Turbo Tax last year and will again this year. most of our kids probably only file the EZ forms anyway, so their taxes are pretty easy to do.

Mary- Are you the one that had your son's car shipped? There's a wife wondering about shipping a car, and I told her to post a discussion in here. She did, but the mom I'm thinking of didn't answer. If I knew which one of you shipped the car, I'd message you, but I can't remember who it is!

I just remembered a question I had the other day when I saw that Kat mentioned shipping her son his tax stuff.  Does anybody know if the tax people they have there in GC who help the sailors with their taxes will also do out-of-state income tax forms?  Or is that something I'll have to keep doing?

Congrats Gail. That is absolutely awesome. You must be so proud. Does your son prefer to stay back on staff or ship out to a new duty station? I told my son once that I'd love it if he would try to be on staff at the school and he said no way, i want to see the world. I guess us moms would love it if they were on land, close by, wouldn't we?

Mary, you are too funny. You say it like I think it, but I try not to say it out loud. My son has gotten into this nasty habit of not calling or communicating much since he got back from the holiday break. Yesterday I finally had to send him a message, after trying for two weeks to get him to call me to discuss his insurance, etc., and told him I guess he should start calling the USAA himself and get quotes, call the auto transporters and find out how much to ship the truck since I probably won't drive it since I can't talk to him, and that I'd gladly send all of his tax stuff when it comes so that he can take care of that too. Ha, got a response within 3 minutes, he was also on the phone with USAA giving them his permission to discuss his auto insurance quote, and said he'll go get his power of attorney for me today since USAA needs that.
Yep, lit the fire under him. He said he's been soooo busy, which I know is true, however, I see him on Facebook every day for hours, and if I check my netflix account I'm sure I could see how many movies and tv shows he's been watching. ha. It's all a learning process.

I'm pretty sure my son said he was told 95% of the kids pass.

I'm hoping that's true - he was really worried about his A school comps and I know Power School is tougher.  He's never been one to study - he's never had to (got that from his mother).
