NancyJo, crossing my fingers that your son and family don't have any issues at home.  Riding out a storm is something I don't think I could do!

My daughter just called to have me help her grocery shop via phone.  She was trying to think of what to buy that didn't have to be cooked.   It's my understanding that those who are on the ship will not have any electric.  Since they're in the yard, no food, bring your own.  Due to flooding they might have to stay for awhile.  Sounds like the lock-in from hell.  The cherry on top is that she was supposed to come home next weekend, now that's been cancelled.  Go Navy!

MTBCHCK I relayed your joke to her.  She laughed then reminded me that story was a great example of teamwork.   :)

My sailor and his family just moved off base last weekend into a private home in SC. As MTBCHCK said the base was evacuated. Last year, when the base evacuated and my sailor was still in base housing, they had to leave so they went to FL. This year they are battening down the hatches and sitting tight. So far so good but he said today will probably be the worst of it. Prayers for all in the path of the storm.

NancyJo that's a great pic!  You three are looking awesome in your red!

MTBCHCK that made me laugh.

In reality that's only a small percentage of the Navy.  My Nuke is on her ship doing her thing while her dog is left behind at home (another Nuke is staying with the dog).  Since it's her duty day, she'll likely be on the ship when Dorian hits, not sure how that will play out with them being in the shipyard.    My Nuke-in-law along with the rest of the fleet in Norfolk, put out over the last few days to get ahead of the storm.  Hopefully all will be well at their house as Norfolk is not expected to take the brunt of the storm.

My heart goes out to all those families left to evacuate or ride out the storm without their sailors at home.

MTBCHCK, that's funny! I just shared it with my co-worker who is a former Navy corpman. We had a good chuckle.

B'sNuke, great pics. I loved having you here. Come again soon!

Just a bit of humor. (from Former ARMY!!!)

2500 sailors were evacuated from Goose Creek (may they all be safe in their travels) to Fort Jackson SC in advance of Hurricane Dorian.

In other words the Army saved the Navy from water! (Thank you, my fellow Army personnel for putting up with the Navy like my son!)

KayCee - Great to hear from you! Wow! that was a fast - No communication!

B'sNukeMom - glad to have you back! I will be quiet for a few days probably. Time for my eldest's baby shower this weekend. I have to go shopping and do some sewing. Had other projects that needed attention first. My sailor called me Monday night, he thought he had missed his sister's shower, and wanted to know what to buy her. He is so looking forward to hopefully getting a Christmas leave and come home to hold his little niece, who is due the first part of Dec.

Hi Everyone!  It's been awhile since I commented, but I'm still here.  Since my sailor graduated prototype in June, it's been quite a whirlwind and busy time!  Currently, my son is silent somewhere.  He met up with his sub/boat a couple weeks after getting to his new duty station and command.  It certainly is difficult not knowing when I will hear from him again.  This is a different feeling from boot camp.  At least then I knew when I would be seeing him next.

B'sNukeMom - what wonderful pictures, and to have both boys together with their SO's...priceless!  And congratulations on your new dog :)

Welcome to all the newbies and I guarantee you will find this group a huge support filled with excellent advice, knowledge, chitter-chatter and friendliness.  I am so thankful!
