ProudParent, my daughter had hard orders about two weeks out.  My SIL's orders were a little later in coming, but since they were married we were pretty sure where he'd be, just didn't know which sub he'd be on.  I wouldn't worry, the Navy takes its time when it wants to.

Do most sailors know their duty station before Prototype graduation? It is a few weeks away but our sailor was qualified the last week in May.

Green2Blue and Tulip - Glad you popped in!!

BlancheMarie - If you decided to sign off when your son is finished be sure to let us know. But I think B'sNukeMom says to not delete your actual profile or it will erase all of your comments. Hopefully, she will be able to explain that better.

It has been so great to hear back from some of our newer moms as well. Thanks for chimining in.

ETNmom - if you have any ET questions there are a few of us that would be willing to help you.

Enjoy reading all the bios!
My husband and I celebrated our 30th this spring with a River Cruise in Europe. We have 2 kids—oldest (27) just finished her academic work for her doctorate in psychology and I will be helping her move from Virginia to St Louis for her internship in a few weeks...girls trip! Our youngest (25) is our nuke has been in almost 4 years; he went to college for a few years before deciding to enlist. He is in the fleet on a sub, just got his dolphins a few weeks ago and is preparing for his second deployment probably before year end. We are from Ohio and moved to Memphis about 6 yrs ago for work. Have one fur-baby who thinks he is a lap dog when he is actually a golden retriever. Love this group even though I lurk more than chat.

Nothing like being in GC to make you appreciate coming home to 70 degrees with no humidity! Boots are in my house this week... happy Mama! Big thanks to everyone who sent ideas for rainy day activities! We ended up in downtown Charleston at the market and out to lunch. Graduation was indoors and was just like A School... quick and to the point. Best part was when they gave out a special sub award... kid who received was 6'5"... the first words out of the presenter's mouth were "You're gonna have to learn to duck!". Anyway... as always... thanks ladies!!!

Hello All, I have enjoyed reading all the bios and the additional information from the posts on here.

My husband and I have been married for 27 (almost 28) years. We met while in the Navy while we were both attending "C" school in Damneck, VA, he was an Fire Controlman (FC) and I was an Electronics Technician (ET) however not the nuclear kind. We spent 4 years in Charleston, SC, had our daughter at the Charleston Naval Hospital, where I finished my enlistment and was there when the Naval Base was shut down for good. I was not thrilled to moved back to VA however four days after we moved, our son was born in VA at the naval hospital. VA turned out to be the place we would settle down and plant roots and my beloved husband finished his career of 22 years and 10 months in the Navy and retired. Our beautiful daughter is thriving on her own, finishing her third degree, and living on her own. Our dear son decided the military was his path, joined the Navy (guessing the apple didn't fall far from the tree), and left for boot camp in March, graduated in May and is currently in GC getting ready for "A" school. I was truly amazed of the transformation of him from when he left to now, he is completely different, carries himself differently and has so much more confidence which is everything a mom would want to see in their child..to see them grow. I have read everything on here to prepare myself for what he is about to do and find it so funny in a way that I and my husband went thru the same kinds of things just different when we were new in the Navy but it is different when it is not you and it is your kid. Luckily as I have told the dear son that Charleston is close enough to be close and far enough to be far (a little distance to spread his wings however close enough that his dad or me can be down there in a drop of hat).

Well I have thoroughly enjoyed reading everything on here and I  know I will be spending lots of time on here to learn and follow his path as he goes along. Thank you for reading and thank you all for the information this site provides.

Thanks to all you ladies! So grateful for all the info and support as we journey into this Navy world.

My bio: Met my hubby in college and married shortly afterwards.   Live in IN for most my life and we have 2 children. Our oldest, our daughter A,  currently lives about 1.5 hrs south of us. She will be leaving for Idaho soon however for P.A. School in Boise. Our son, SR, will be heading to GC for nukes after BC. (WOW, lots of initials) He studied at university last year several states away so we are used to him not being around. Although, he did wait almost a year for his ship out date. What a blessing that year was!

Anyway, both my hubby and I travel for a living so we have the air travel down. I’m partial to the United Airlines card:) and travel app. It consistently wins awards. Looking forward to visiting SC and ID! Both are states we have not spent much time in. Here’s to new adventures!

Bio

Good morning sea sisters! I don’t post much, but do read most of the post. My sailor isn’t one for sharing much and I’d be lost without all of you.

My husband and I have been together for 23 years. We met in college. We reside in my hometown (actually bought my patents house in the Adirondack park., aka God country ;) He’s a guidance counselor and I’m a kindergarten teacher for the last 18 years. Our eldest daughter is a senior in college and doing her internship this summer <3 living at home for the next 3 months! Our eldest son is an ETN currently in power school (since he doesn’t communicate with us well, we are unsure of where in this part he’s at, but thinking towards the end) we did go to GC to see him for Christmas since he didn’t come home and were able to see him one of the days we were there. I send him weekly emails and a few boxes here and there....with no responses:( I did reach out to an Ombudsman this spring and didn’t get far and was told pretty much that he’s an adult now and if he wanted to contact us he would! Our next son is 17 and looking to go into engineering but said not through the navy bc he couldn’t imagine the distance it creates! He is an altar server at our church and on national honor society. Our next two are girls 11 and 12 and both doing great and in advanced programs. All of our children have excelled in school and we couldn’t be prouder of their determination to succeed and be kind along the way.

Looking forward to going to graduation, just hoping to get the invite! I look at all the photos posted of graduations just incase he’s in one and so far I haven’t seen him...fingers crossed and many prayers that we get to go!!! Thanks again to everyone here and for the support and guidance you have given!

Much love from Upstate NY

Ok, I will chime in!  I am not a huge poster...more of a lurker!  But have found a wealth of information (and peace!) reading through all the information.

We have been married for 30 years.  I am a Nurse Anesthetist and my husband is a pastor.  He was a middle school science teacher before he was called.  Our three sons did not stand a chance...each one is involved in engineering.  They grew up with more logical thinking than anything else!  My husband was active duty army and I was army reserve.  It's where we met!  My nuke is the youngest.  We live in western WI,  and I must say, having your last child be so far away is a little tough.   We went to BC grad, A school grad, power school grad and are planning on going to prototype grad very soon!  They are so busy, we took every opportunity to celebrate his success along the way.  I even had to make an "emergency trip" to cheer him on....I am just not sure if it was more his emergency or mine!  We are so proud of him for making it to the finish line (well, almost to the finish line...oral boards left!).  Just when we had the empty nest thing down, the middle son graduated college and moved home while looking for a job.  Oldest son is well established and married.  It is fun watching your children become adults and liking the people they become.  Our nuke still doesn't have orders, but is hoping for subs.  His next duty station is our next vacation!

Thank you to everyone for posting and sharing information about all the schools and expectations.  It really helped a lot!  I am not really looking forward to deployments, so that will be the next place I am looking for survival tips and advice!!
