Great idea for the bios, B'sNuke!  Married 26 years, 2 kids, live in Northern California.  Son, nuke, 25, has been in Navy almost 6 years, plans to stay in career, is an EM2, and currently stationed on the USS Tennessee (blue), a boomer sub based out of King's Bay, Georgia (he is specifically in the Navy because he wanted to be on a sub).  He's hoping to go back to Charleston at the end of this year, as his time with this boat is up.  Daughter, 24, lives locally, working toward getting into a Master's in Occupational Therapy.  Two dogs, no grandchildren.

I too have been enjoying reading the bios today but did not have time to add mine until now.  Our nuke left for bootcamp the end of February 2017 (about 9 months after he graduated high school) and he has now been in the fleet since January - assigned to the Vinson carrier.  He is a 21 year old ETN  We are very fortunate to have him in our home state just 4 hours away.  When he was in the pipeline and I was tempted to be envious of any mom who was fairly close to GC or BS I would remind myself that my time to have my sailor close might be coming - and it came.  We also have a 26 year old special needs daughter who misses her big - little brother even though she doesn't have to share our attention when he's gone.  He has become her 'Big' brother over the years in every way but age.  I grew up in Minnesota but have lived in Washington state (both the west side and east side) for almost 40 years - yikes I suddenly feel very old.
And I am also one of those very fortunate people that have gotten to meet B'sNukeMom.  If any of you ever get the chance take it.  I wish I had half her energy.

Also Kerriknowz - I went to A school grad and was very glad I did.  We all went to BC grad and Power School grad but just I went to A school grad.  I was sorry my husband couldn't be there too but on the other hand I had some really quality time with just my nuke.  And he and I flew home together the next day - which was great except for him getting food poisoning from something he ate in the New York airport and then throwing up multiple times on the looonnng flight from New York to Seattle.

They do have a small ceremony. We went when B graduated. They encourage you to come up and take pictures too. If you're able to go I would recommend it.

I too love all the bios.  Hubs and I have been married 25 years this past January but me in High School when our dads were both stationed in Germany (Army brats).  Our oldest (nuke officer) graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 2017 and headed to OCS within a month.  We made trips for OCS, Power School and Prototype graduations but missed out on SOBC the early part of May. He drove to Disney, got engaged, flew to see us for Mothers' Day and got married the week he got back to Charleston before  reporting to Newport News where his sub is being built.  We are planning a road trip next month to take him all the rest of his TX belongings so its all in one place finally!  Our youngest is set to graduate Texas A&M in December and join the work force (we hope).  He wanted to be the corps of engineers but his heart had other ideas so his time in the corps of cadets was short.  He will continue to find his way I am sure.  I lurk often and respond when I can, especially to other moms of officers.

Love the fact that many of you have been married so long! What wonderful stories!!!

My husband and I will celebrate 10 years this Thanksgiving. My son left for bootcamp in January 2018 and is graduating PS on Friday (I'm here in Folly Beach as I type!). I've got a 21 year old daughter at home and a 106lb labrador retriever. We also have a cat that we are all allergic to... so my husband made her kitty doors so she can go in and out at will. Saw my son for the first time in 6 months today and cried.... and I can't even think about when he gets into the pipeline... just one day at a time.

I mostly lurk on this site... but wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for answering my questions and being so supportive. Your efforts truly make a difference!

BigSky21 - Thanks!

MoMom - I will try to catch up with you soon!

To all of our new members: This group can seem almost a little intimidating because we chatter more on here as a family sometimes and you can feel left out. But stick around, you will get to know these ladies and our few gentlemen and grow in admiration of them. Especially B'sNukeMom - who is one of the main admins not only for this group but also for the site. She is wonderful!!

Keep the bios coming!

I'm loving all of the bios! I met my husband in Charleston while he was stationed on a sub. We've moved around a lot but feel very lucky to have found our home in Boise for the past 6 years. We have been married for almost 23 years. We have two sons, the oldest is in A school, the youngest will start High School next year. One dog, a boxer named Titan. We are currently in Charleston visiting K and can't believe how much has changed from when we lived here. We plan on coming back in August for his graduation.

We love our Southwest card! They also have unbelievable events that we've use our points on. So much fun!!

Love getting this glimpse into everyone's lives.  Kind of fun to see where your sailor's are in the pipeline or fleet (or out).

MoMom - wow - 8 days in the hospital - kind of scary.  I'm glad he's ok now.  BZ to your Marine son too ;-D

All of you with grandbabies makes me jealous lol!  I can't wait for it to be my turn.  I do have 3 grand fur-babies though! I think so far NancyJo wins with the most grandbabies!

NonnaB - so glad to hear that your youngest is with you for comfort and support.  I'm sure your husband would be so proud of him for stepping up.  I wonder if your nuke knows NancyJo's son?  Both are on shore duty in GC.

SubMom - B enjoyed prototype the best.  Hopefully your son will class up soon and get things going.  Before you know it he'll be in the fleet!

bigsky - prototype grad soon - woohoo!  We did our vacations based on where B was too!  Chicago, SC, NY (twice) and VA (twice). Now we just need to get to MI to see them.  Is your son wanting carrier or sub?

B was in VA with the Truman.  His fiancee was with the Lincoln.

I struggle to find the time to make a post, but this seems like a good time, when everyone is sharing their bios.

My husband and I have a blended family of 6 kids, 5 boys and 1 girl. Most of them are grown and out of the house. The 2 oldest, boy and girl, are 27 and almost (next week) 26, and both living in Vegas. My nuke is 21. He left for boot camp on May 14, 2017, which happened to be Mother’s Day, as well as my birthday. He graduated prototype in January of this year, and was assigned to the Wyoming. On his way back to Virginia after his leave, he was in a car accident. He spent 8 days in the hospital (missing e5 testing), then spent the next couple of weeks on convalescent leave with his dad in Connecticut. He is currently at his command in Virginia, in med hold, waiting to be cleared to do his job.

Another 21 year old (my step son) is still here in town. The next boy turned 18 at the end of February, finished his last 2 hs classes mid March, then shipped out to San Diego for Marine Corps boot camp April 1. I finally got to hear his voice for the first time since last night. Graduation is set for June 28. Next week begins the Crucible for him,  the final test before becoming a Marine.

Finally, I have another boy turning 12 tomorrow, and starting the 7th grade in the fall. Whew!

First, congrats Chipmunk, for becoming a grandma; it’s the best thing ever!

here’s my bio: Mr. B and I were high school sweethearts; we dated for 5 years and were married almost 39 years before he suddenly passed away in May 2017. We have three amazing children. Our oldest is currently at the School of Theology at the University of the Sourh and will be an Episcopal priest in about 2 more years. She has given me the best son in law a mama could ask for and a sweet grand dog. My Nuke, the middle child, started boot camp in March 2010 and finished as an ELT in summer 2012. He was aboard the USS Montpelier until last year and is now in Goose Creek on shore duty. He met his wife in the Navy and they have blessed me with three beautiful grandsons. My youngest son is slowly finding his path in life and lives with me. He has matured so much since his Daddy died and is a great source of comfort and support to me. I currently live in central Virginia but am originally from Baltimore.

BZ to everyone who has children graduating this week!
