First, congrats Chipmunk, for becoming a grandma; it’s the best thing ever!

here’s my bio: Mr. B and I were high school sweethearts; we dated for 5 years and were married almost 39 years before he suddenly passed away in May 2017. We have three amazing children. Our oldest is currently at the School of Theology at the University of the Sourh and will be an Episcopal priest in about 2 more years. She has given me the best son in law a mama could ask for and a sweet grand dog. My Nuke, the middle child, started boot camp in March 2010 and finished as an ELT in summer 2012. He was aboard the USS Montpelier until last year and is now in Goose Creek on shore duty. He met his wife in the Navy and they have blessed me with three beautiful grandsons. My youngest son is slowly finding his path in life and lives with me. He has matured so much since his Daddy died and is a great source of comfort and support to me. I currently live in central Virginia but am originally from Baltimore.

BZ to everyone who has children graduating this week!

We just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary last month. My husband told me this past weekend that I am officially a "Michigander" since I've lived here longer than anywhere else in my lifetime - lol. We are pet free - had to put down our dog just before our sailor left for BC. We are also empty-nesters which is odd at times but also really nice. Our son is waiting to class up for Prototype (just completed one duty assignment and has been transferred to another while on hold). Reality is starting to sink in that he is in the homestretch. A few conversations have been "once I'm in the fleet" which I am trying to not overthink! We are very lucky to have our other son (Nuke's best friend) that stops by to visit and catch up.

Hi all, I love reading these little glimpses of everyone's life! I will be married 6 months on Friday - but we've been together for seven years and my new husband has been the single biggest male influence in my Nuke's life - definitely for the better! N is about to graduate prototype, no orders yet but should be finding out soon where I'll be going on my next vacation lol. I have an older son who is happily married to a wonderful girl and has a mini-me who will be 2 on Friday - my first grandbaby :) My SECOND grandbaby is 16 years old lol - my husband has two sons also, and one of them has a 16 year old daughter who became my granddaughter officially in December (unofficially long before that!!) I am so proud of both my boys and the paths they have taken in their lives.

Chipmunk, just an fyi...the skymiles card does have an annual fee, which is why I never applied for one - I pretty much fly Delta exclusively, mainly for work, but I'm not paying for their credit card!

Comment by NNLori on June 5, 2019 at 3:14pm

B's NukeMom- Thanks for the suggestion!! We usually do Southwest so I will have to look into that.

Can I jump in on the bios - I will be married 28 years in September. My Nuke is an ETN3 and is our oldest and will be 21 in August. He is in Prototype and has his oral boards on the 17th and will graduate in June. He just got his orders!! AHHHHHHHHHH. I also have a daughter that is 16 and is a cheerleader and great student. She applied for early graduation so I thought I had 2 years before she was done and she just shortened it to 1!! Double AHHHHHH! We have dog, a snake and hermit crab (which is a terrible pet, by the way) We live in South Central PA. I have been to both A school graduation and Power School graduation and am now making plans to go to Prototype!! :)) Welcome to all the new members. This is a wonderful place of support and information. You will love it!!

NNLori - We use Delta Airlines, because it is what seems to work out best for our location. Once we signed my sailor up for his own skymiles account, they are constantly offering large amounts of points if you get one of the credit cards. Not sure if there is an annual fee or not, we haven't signed up for it.

Thanks JayDee659!!

Congrats NancyJo!!

NNLori - good description "schooling is like being shot with a firehose of information".  That me lol!  And you're right, just about the time you think you have it figured out they go and start a different phase in their Navy journey.  Semper Gumby for sure!

As for a credit card I use my Wells Fargo Visa for everything and am able to use the points for travel.  I also have the Southwest Air Rewards so I usually go back and forth between the two.  There's probably better ways to do it but I tend to stick with what I know.

Chipmunk, I hope it works well for them.  I have been very pleased with the results.  Also I throw in a couple drops of Lemon or Orange oil for less of a "salad" fragrance.

This is good stuff!

My husband was my high school sweetheart, we have been married 32 years (I was a child bride).  Our Nuke is an MMN2 on the George HW Bush and her Nuke husband is an MMN2 on the USS Albany (sub).  I have survived a deployment and a Tiger Cruise and more than one heart stopping moment.  Our oldest daughter just got her PhD in Chemistry so we are double nerd household.   BTW my daughter and her husband met in boot camp, nerds attract I guess. :))

B;sNuke, love the bio! I am a single with 4 kids. My nuke is my youngest. No husband, no pets, but 9 grandkids with 2 on the way. My nuke went to MEPS May 12, 2010, went ELT after Proto, served junior staff for 2 yrs in BS before serving on the USS Carl Vinson for 3 yrs. Now he's at the NNPTC and his wife is 1 of my expectant onesl My SIL is a nuke veteran that works now at a nuclear power plant. I have met B'sNuke and few other moms over the yrs. Best mamas ever!
