Chipmunk, yes, my bag was waiting for me in Chattanooga. My Nuke and I do think alike in many ways and I like that we brainstorm together.

NonnaB - So I will assume that your shoes caught up with you on your trip. Congratulations on completely your run!! Enjoy the extra time with your Nuke. I have to admit, I miss my Nuke, but especially when I am working on projects. Before he left for BC, we had discovered that he and I actually worked really well in our problem solving of projects around the house.

B'sNukeMom - Thanks for the OPSEC reminder.

Welcome Aboard to all of our recent new members!!.

Kuhl and others wondering about graduations, etc. Remember that the information you see posted here, is generally what was relevant at the time that our sailors were going through the pipeline. In general, most things stay fairly consistent, but we quickly learn B's motto - Semper Gumby - Always flexible. That said -

Book Hotel rooms that can be cancelled with no penalty, book refundable or transferrable flights. In our case, we choose to drive if need be, instead of fly, or we have paid higher prices for last minute flights. Ask your sailors - Unfortunately, as my son has said, they often don't even know until the last minute, but our son has also been given advanced warning when it seems like plans are likely to change from the normal routine. So far, his A school graduation was pushed back a week when GC was hit with an unprecedented snowfall, then a hurricane evacuation postponed his PS graduation. Next comes Prototype and that one I have gathered seems to always have some uncertainty surrounding it and so we are in a holding pattern again.

I will say, we did not receive an invitation for A school graduation, only for Power School, but be prepared for your sailor to need some personal information on anyone planning to attend to add them to the roster list, and be early graduation morning. The line can be long to get in, since everyone gets checked off the list and if there is both A school & PS graduation it will be even busier and parking may or may not be an issue, depending on what is going on at NNPTC.

So glad it’s almost Friday! I have only worked 2 nights this week but I am sooo sorry that I did not take the whole week off. I am sending love and concern to all in the Midwest flooding; please stay safe. My Nuke’s time near me has been extended a bit so I will see him this weekend also. Last weekend I went to TN and finished a half marathon that my daughter talked me into. The course had been modified so we covered17 miles instead of13; not bad for an led broad. To all you ladies whose Nukes are waiting on Proto to start; keep the faith; it will happen. My son was in Proto 6 years ago and everything worked out fine despite  some delays.

Thanks SubMom for taking it down - it's just better to say less sometimes.

Here's the OPSEC reminder info.  We should all read it once in a while as a refresher - it's easy to start talking about things that seem like they are just everyday things but actually can violate OPSEC.  And it helps prepare us for when they are deployed and OPSEC is critical.

B'sNukeMom - I'm sorry I just removed my threads (I didn't realize this would be tied to ship movement). Thank you for the reminder.

Comment by B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet) on March 21, 2019 at 2:51pm

Hey ladies - we are getting into an area of OPSEC here with the talk on protoype changes (it's relatable to ship movement).  If you want to discuss this more please do so in a private message.  Thanks.
